Anyone swapped the GT grill already?
This has been discussed at length before. Some of us have agreed that the fog lights in the GT grill look over the top and the V6 grill is actually the better design. But has anyone actually made this mod to his or her GT yet? And if so how did it fit?
I'm middle of the road on this one.I find the "mouth" on the V6 too big, but at the same time I think the fogs on the GT would look better if smalller or placed differently. I'm stickin with the GT grill until something compelling hits the aftermarket.

havent done it, but I imagine it'd fit fine. I loveeeeee <3 <3 the GT grill though. the fog lights are gorgeous. (just my humble opinion though!)

Did you guys see the grills from SEMA? I kind of like the billet grill from CDC (on their red car). I've never been wild about billet grills, but that one looks really good and reminds me of some of my favorite '60's Mustangs.
The GT grill is growing on me ... I am however biased as I have a '69 already in my garage and have always felt it was the best looking Mustang front end ('70 Mach 1 close 2nd).
I'd think you would get a lot of flashing headlamps from people thinking you have your high beams on.
If I were to get a 2005+ GT, I would be tempted to swap out the Fogs for a pair of 100W Aircraft Landing Lights which I have done on my '69. Highly illegal, this was a popular and simple modification done by many gearheads with 4-headlamp cars in the 50's through early 70's. Many police departments also did this to their cars.

OOO QUICK...Lets make ours all custom, just like yours!!!
*sarcasm*
Haha, I'm just kidding. Thats sounds like a pretty sweet lookin mod. Maybe you could post some pics if/when you do it (if/when you get a 2005GT). Or maybe someone could chop it...

Cool, what color are the aircraft landing lights? Can you get them in clear? So I take it they are very bright.

Not sure what the diameter of the stock 2005 GT Fog Lamp is, but assuming it is the same (or larger) there would be some modifications required to mount them and provisions to adjust them (up/dn l/r) would need to be incorporated. Possibly could use a pair of headlamp buckets from an older round 4-lamp car as a starting point. A special heavier gauge (recommend 14GA) wiring harness and relays would be required to handle the 200W output (GT Fogs are tyically only 37.5W each). They should also be wired so they ONLY come on with your HIGH BEAMS, and have a separate switch in case you want them off altogether.
As I said before, these are very illegal for street use and would get a lot more attention than any driving lights you could buy over the counter. In case you were to get some serious heat from the police reguaring these lights, I would NOT modify any parts that you would need to swap back in the factory fogs !!

Are the stock foglights bright enough to work as beamlights the way they are? I.e, they reach a few 100 ft longer than the headlights? It gets dark here...

Fog lights should be placed as low on the vehicle as possible for maximum effectiveness (idea is to get beam of light under the fog) ... with driving lights the higher the better. Ford's location on the '05 being inline with the headlamps would be more ideal for driving lamps than fogs.
Experience with past factory Ford fog lamps with 37.5W bulbs: they really aren't much more effective than marker lamps ... I.E. they are more for looks than functionality.
Thanks for the reply orange3.9
That means a little mod work is in place the yet-to-be-known day I get one. On the upside, it's nice that there's a natural place to stick the driving lights. It'd ruin the fun to bolt a rack in front of the grille.
