I believe I talked to MTAS about this WAY back once - and I believe he said he was running 32lbs in the rears?

28/28 seems to work well. I drop it to 23 in the rear at the drag strip, and pump the fronts up to 38 for less rolling resistance. And 34/32 for long road trips. Fronts tend to wear more on the sides, but I make up for that when I pump them up for road trips, helps on the gas mileage with only a slightly rougher ride. My tires have about 6K on them and are wearing even and should get another 15K out of them, well, maybe not the rears.

 

What else would he be talking about? Nobody ever says they have a "10 pounds per square inch" pulley, they say I have a "10 pound" pulley. And it doesn't mean it weighs ten pounds.

When upgrading to the deepdish wheels and larger tires does the handling and ride change much from the stock
setup?

You guys are killing me with all the pics so I am thinking of going this route but would like to know what to expect before doing the staggered thing.

 

I think they give me a smoother ride, than my stock 17". I am not sure, maybe I am just excited about the new look of the wheels. Hehehe!

 

Yeah,your excited! Anytime one makes a change ,the smile factor takes away all and any glitches with your car. And you sir made a great change

 

Although I need them rebalanced I think...the steering wheel started shaking a little around 60mph. I dont think the initial balancing was done properly. Going to have it checked out asap.

 

if it was dead steady previous to the wheel change then yeah - have the fronts checked out and rebalanced

 

yeah, the stock 17" was dead on straight, no issues. I just assembled these new ones on teh car and I doubt that I was that rough on the car when I put them on. I guess the guys at the tire shop who assmebled the tires and balanced them initially didnt quite get it right.

 

fredrik, did you check to see if they removed the retaining clips on the front rotors? that may be the cause and not an improperly balanced wheel. worth a shot.
