Nemisus... Love the nick name BTW since I collect Nemesis Prime figures. ;)

I bought mine on the bay from the same seller as you did. Thing is since I live in Canada I need to go pick them up state side at the UPS store where I shipped them to.
I picked up the smoked ones. :)
The process you explained doesn't sound to bad. So you get to keep the broken part? I did not see that coming. Guess they want to get rid of their stock and be done with it. haha.

Nemisus,

Are you talking about something like this ? Made from aluminum. I am actually in the process of redoing them to make the round opening bigger.

Hi Jim,

yes, absolutely yes! Those look very nice and would indeed result in the look I am after. Is this something you made or bought and improved on?

VGM,

true being out of country could be tricky but I am optimistic this is a once off and you'll be just fine. I am expected to get my replacement tomorrow so we will see. So far DT-Moto has been very accommodating in this process.

JimB. 1/3/20 11:01 PM

Hi Nemisus,

It is something that I fabricated out of aluminum. After searching for over months for the Shelby pieces with no luck .
I used the V6 pony package - Gt500 lights from Starkey and an H10 to H11 connector. That way I just used the factory switch and wiring.
The grill Fogs were no longer operational. Only the halos worked.

I am in the process of redesigning them. They will resemble the Shelby pieces and be wired separately so that the grill lights will work again. Only with one hole. The lights in the Shelby package were much smaller.
I think 2.5 inches and these are 3.5 inches and LED. The are great lights. Last summer I saw a Shelby Gt that had them installed and knew right away that I had to have something similar.
The car was actually for sale and I offered him $500 and new grill pieces to go in there place but he wouldn't go for it.
I may be willing to part with these pieces in the near future. I also have a template for the bracket and the H10 to H11 connector.
I also have a friend at work that just bought a 3d printer and am going to see if this is something that he can reproduce.

Hey Jim,

Sent you a PM. Nice work you have there and I'd be eager to see any future redesigns.

Cheers

Nemisis,

Here are two pictures of the new ones. The black area will be removed and the light will sit in the larger opening in the back.
I am just waiting on the epoxy

to dry.

Would this work?
https://www.redlinetuning.com/product-p/jltgb-fm05.htm
I think a new thread should be made just so we don't hijack this one.

JimB. 1/4/20 11:12 AM

I believe that the inside diameter of those is like 2.25 inches. You would have to use a much smaller light. I tried to find a way to use those also.

Replacement

UPDATE:

Replacement arrived today and in good order too! Must admit that was a huge relief.

Centurion96,

Here are some close up shots of the back of the tail light. Hope this helps.

New replacement. If you look real close there is a SPYDER logo etched in the back up light section of the tail. Thought that was cool for some reason.

Anyhow,

VGM I hope your experience goes well. All said and done I am not disappointed in my experience.

Cheers TMS

Nemi

Hi VGM, the bezels you show are on a standard lower grill for the GT. I'm wondering if your friend with the 3D printer can do a total insert for each side with the honeycomb and bezel on the front face plus the mount for the fogs on the back side.

VGMStudios 1/6/20 06:41 AM

Nemisus Thank you. I got them the other day and other than a few minor scratches, they are perfect! Though the weather stripping that came with them came off while in the box. Not a big deal.

Centurion96 ahh ok thanks for the info. So you wanted to use the bigger ones that are in the front grill?

Not exactly. Since Shelby America removed the factory fogs in the upper grille for the Shelby GT, they put fogs in those lower inserts (bezels) along with some brake ducts. Several of the California Special owners bought those fog bezels from Shelby and added the brake ducts but put driving lights where Shelby was putting fogs. The ideal arrangement would be for the fogs to be low and the driving lights to be up high with the headlights. That would be a real PITA to try and find a driving light that would fit in the factory fog locations. All is pretty mute now since Shelby no longer sells those bezels. Those bezels looked great on the Shelby GT and the California Specials.

I spoke with the owner of Carrol Shelby Racing yesterday and The bezels have been produced and are ready to ship.

https://www.carrollshelbyracing.com/...ONLY%29.html#/

They also told me that they are using The PIAA Lp530 lights. http://www.piaa.com/store/p/188-LP53...Compliant.aspx
They can be found for a lot less that that price though.

VGMStudios 1/8/20 06:23 AM

Thanks for the info Centurion96. I bought the CS bumper for my car and these do look awesome. Now I need to decide to get them...
Thanks Jim B for the link! :)

VGMStudios 1/13/20 06:22 PM

Jim B would you know if any 3.5" fog light fit in there?

I am trying to find a fog light with halo or angel eyes to go into that bezels. Would you know of any on the top of your head?

Would these fit down there?

Nemisus 1/13/20 08:35 PM

Greetings TMS,

I am sure Jim B will chime in VGM but I wanted to share what I've learned since obtaining the Shelby Bezel inserts. I have attached a few photo's that show some dimensions for the fog hole. This can give you an idea one the size of light you'll need. Sadly I don't have much further info to offer as I stopped at the measurement. I had to order some additional components and I am slightly concerned that with a very near future install of the Kenne Bell that the Heat Exchanger will be directly behind where the fogs will mount. I want to make sure there is room, which I believe there will be before I go drilling 3" plus holes in my bumper.

Anyhow,

I hope this images help a little at least.

Those are the same lights as I have also. Purchased from Starkey Products. They are great lights and with the H10 to H11 connector there are no wiring issues to deal with.
Nemisus and I have posted a lot about this project in the California Special section. https://themustangsource.com/forums/...0/#post7047201

On my first version I had to use a silicone turbo pipe reducer connector to connect the light to the bezel tube as the tube was only 3 inch diameter and the light is 3.5 inch. On my new version I have the aluminum expanded on one end so the light will fit inside of the tube.

JimB. 1/14/20 12:33 AM

Also if you look at the PIAA light that Carrol Shelby Racing is using with these Bezels. The are pretty much the same size. Nemisus can you tell us if the light actually fits in the end of the bezel ?

Nemisus 1/14/20 06:38 AM

Good morning,

The Starkey light does fit but with approximately .28 of space remaining.

The largest outside diameter of the light is 3.47 and the inside diameter of the fog bezel is 3.75. Assuming my digital caliper measures worth a **** I'd say its pretty close.

Hope this helps

JimB. 1/14/20 07:16 AM

That is about what I have for space on mine also.
