My '06 GT Coupe is scheduled to be build the week of 8/22, so now I'm starting to think about how I'm going to mount an antenna for my Yaesu FT-8900. I have a Diamond SGM911 antenna that I'm currently using with a magmount base on another vehicle. I was thinking of going with a trunk lip mount base on the Stang. I would want to mount it in the middle of the trunk lid just below the rear window, but I'm sure it will end up smacking into the glass every time I open the trunk. I could also go with an on-glass anteanna, but my feeling is that the performance of this type of antenna would not be nearly as good as the SGM911 (I work a lot of 2m simplex).

I'm curious what any one else has done? Any suggestions?

The stock antenna is so big you probably could just tie the HAM radio into that. lol
