Antenna Replacements

Wondering if anybody has swapped out the mile high antenna on the stang with something shorter?? On mustangtuning.com they have an 8" and 14" and go on to mention how the 14" has the same strength and reception as the stocker, but dont say the same thing about the 8". But to me the shorter the better so.. what have you guys swapped it out with?

I have a 14" and the height seems just right to me, shorter looks a little out of place almost IMO

Check out a photo here to see how high it is

I have the Steeda unit in stock if you are interested.

Signal strength is not an issue to me as all I listen to is Sirius, which uses a different antenna. My son never listens to the radio, he is always plugged into his iPod.

I guess it depends on what you like, FM, AM, satellite, iPod.

I hope this helps.

I got mine from California Car Covers.

Here is a link to their stubbie antennas...http://www.calcarcover.com/product.aspx?id=892&cid=

I have had no problems with reception at all.

I cut the stock one even with the roof line of the car.

Very easy mod and the cost was $0.00. First Cut it to the length you want, second pop the ball off the end, and third Super glue the ball back onto the shorter Antenna.

Reception seems to be the same as before.

+1, absolutely no difference in reception, and it's free!

I got the 14", or somewhere around there, with absolutely no loss in reception.

Go for cutting it. Looks factory. You can make it whatever length you want. Looks better than any of the aftermarket ones. And it's free.

Agreed... 8" is just too short with the lines of the car.

What did you cut it with??? Does anyone remember seeing the thread where some guy shaved off his factory antenna and replaced it with one that goes around the pony area of the windshield???? I thought that was a good idea put can't find the thread.
