Sounds like a few of us are going for that '69-'70 Mach 1 look. I'm getting a hood stripe and trunk lid accent stripe installed tomorrow. Here's the before picture with the black CDC Classic chin spoiler and black spoiler on the deck lid.

What's the white thing sticking out of your roof?

Looks good (though the wheels don't really scream old school).

Looks like a car parked on the grass behind him with a car cover on it.

That's a covered 86 Mustang GT waiting to get refurbished. I would have taken the car down to the high school parking lot for pictures, but a thunderstorm was looming, and I had just washed the car!

No kidding. I'm agonizing on some Cragar SS wheels as we speak...

The striping ended up a total disaster, despite 3 attempts. My guess is the shop just didn't know what they were doing. I walked out after they removed the last attempt--they wouldn't even clean up my car afterwards!

Another shop wouldn't touch the car, saying the center crease gave them too much trouble, but recommended a body shop that does this part time. They'll paint the stripes on the hood and do the hood pins/hood lifts, repaint my black spoiler to match, paint the rear decklid, apply a narrow vinyl stripe down the sides, and repaint my CDC chin spoiler gloss black to match the black elsewhere. $500-600 estimated. He's also looking for a good wheel/tire replacement.

Next month--now I have to save.

Too funny. Sounds like the same thing that happened to me. Took 7 tries by 2 different shops to get it done right!!!! :bang: The final attempt they said the reason it came out perfect was they use 2.5 mil vinyl. The thicker the better because of the center hood ridge. 2 guys did it with the thicker stuff and it came out 100% perfect..good luck. Is this the kind of stripe you are getting?

It WAS. Now I'm going for a 1969 Boss 302 theme. That means MOST of the hood is getting painted black, with a thin pinstripe border. The chin spoiler will be re-prepped to handle gloss black (it's flat black now), and the rear spoiler will get a gloss black refresh. The area between the tail panels will get painted gloss black and I'll get rid of that Xenon piece of plastic. But that also means getting the Graphic Express BOSS reverse C stripe decal on each side of the car. The body shop that's doing the job said it shouldn't be a problem, and if it is they'll paint it on for a hundred more (I just might do that anyhow).

So, I'll be saving up the next 30 days.

Jesus man, SEVEN tries?!?! You have got mucho patience, my friend!
