As expected, nothing has happened for a couple weeks now. Luckily Steve (05yellowGT) sent me the email of a supervisor he is working with, so I am going that route now. But the lack of customer service and all the BS excuses is simply amazing.

I hate to say it... But I spoke too soon...... All day I have been refreshing the UPS tracking page to see where my replacement part is that AM sent out yesterday, finally it changes from the Out for Delivery to Needs Attention! What? I have been home since 3:30 and there has been NO UPS truck pull in, no knock, no nothing. I pull up the tracking page and it says "needs unit number for delivery" WHAT? Your has been on the truck for delivery all day and at 7:50pm they finally update the tracking to say that? So I call AM to figure out what happened seeing that yesterday I made the rep read back to me my address. "uh, hold on just a minute, let me take a look" puts me on hold for 4 minutes. What is this guy doing? Taking a leak? He finally comes back and says, "What's the unit number supposed to be on here?" Finally after getting my full address again he asks if there is anything else he can help me with tonight and tells me to have a great night. AM you're slipping........

This is not going well I see. It's hard to find good service anywhere. I always found that its all about customer service.

Slowly making progress and will hopefully have a solution soon. This is result of another member (05YellowGT) getting me hooked up with a CS manager as no one from AM on here has added any value.

I received a set of white ones in April, and I guess no one inspects them before they ship them out to the customer, they either didn't use enough paint or they don't know how to paint, left a response on their web site but as usual they don't post ones that say their pre painted parts are crap. Nobody ever responded but what do you expect.

So are you just accepting the poor paint or have you pursued things with AM? My saga should finally be wrapping up this week, but this was anything but fun. I did the same thing and posted an accurate, but not flattering review about my paint issues on AM and it was never posted as well.

Doug, I was actually the one that forwarded your information over to the CS supervisor to get you squared away. You've been fast-tracked, and hopefully there is a resolve for your shortly. From what I understand, they're still waiting to paint a batch of your color?

My team doesn't have the resources to do the leg work of every single thing we find on the internet, so we have our customer service team actually contact you to fix the issues. We have a high volume of posts, messages, etc. to respond to. We did get your case in-motion, and escalated your issue so that they wouldn't drop the ball. If they do at any time, just hit me up and I'll be on them like crazy. I hope you understand. This is the most efficient way for us to do things, otherwise we would have trouble responding to the people that are out here asking questions, needing assistance, etc.

As for the reviews, I think alot of it is that the feedback is usually sorted. I know there's products with negative reviews. We don't moderate/delete reviews unless they're just belligerent or using foul language. If the review is negative, but fair and factual - we absolutely publish it. We've even denied POSITIVE reviews because of foul language. Also, we never delete negative threads about us outside of our site. We're a stand up company, and making this thread disappear would do nothing but further aggravate you, and potentially other good customers.

If you tell me what the SKU is that you reviewed, I can see what's up with the negative review you submitted. They take some time to approve. We get hundreds of reviews every day. We've never been a shady company or been afraid to say when we or the vendors we carry make mistakes. It's not how we do business.

Here's an example: http://www.americanmuscle.com/saleen-bodykit-9904.html <--- there's not one GOOD review on that product! This product is to the point where we're in talks with the vendor about fixing the issue or discontinuing the item.

Whites, oranges and yellows are really impossible to get good coverage when you paint these headlights. We've actually had different body shops in the area test out these colors to see if different results would come from top-of-the-line 3rd party shops. Same result. Again, out of all the colors we sell (every factory color from 05-13), the 3 colors we have problems with are white, orange and yellow. This isn't a widespread problem, and Doogie's issue (a run in the paint) is rare, and something we just send a brand new one out to fix.

If at any time you guys want a full refund, you got it. If you want a discount off the next order, you got it. Just let us know how to fix this for you. We're trying, here. Doug, I understand your frustration - just let me know what you want me to do.

Chris maybe you can help me with the following....
I installed a pair of the AM retro headlights a couple weeks ago and noticed that my bulbs are in need of adjustment. How do I go about correcting this? I've also got an issue with fitment. Theres about a 1/4 inch gap between the bottom of the headlight and the edge of the bumper. Have you had other customers with these issues?

Really? So when did you forward it? I waited several weeks after your original post here and heard from no one at AM. The only reason things are moving forward now is atributed to 05YellowGT as he put me in touch with the same AM Customer Service manager that was helping him. Who by the way, sent me an unpainted set last week to get completed locally at AM's expense.

I can appreciate that and never expected anyone from AM on here to "fix my issue". But I thought it was a good way to get some additional visibility/ownership from AM (which never happened) as every time I called, I just got the run around and unmet/owned commitments. Both you and Chris Young before he left made "commitments" to get this addressed, yet nothing materialized.

I understand the volume, but thought it was odd based on these known paint issues that no bad reviews (including mine) were published.

It is great to finally see some real information about the root cause of some of the paint issues. While at my local paint shop today getting a final quote for the raw set AM sent, my painter mentioned how static also plays havoc on plastic by attracting dust and can cause a lot more effort to achieve a flawless finish.

As I stated in my original post, I was always willing to work with AM and wait for this to get resolved as I knew up front it might be 4-6 weeks. They offered a refund up front, but the option to wait a bit seemed like a better approach. But here I sit several months later and I finally have line of sight to getting this closed thanks to the help of 05YellowGT and his AM CS contact. Had AM simply owned this from the first time I called, this would have been a non issue.

AM is ensuring I get what I paid for, but the hassle to achieve it was nothing less than a huge PITA and one that I never want to repeat.

This situation posted here has been a real eye opener for me as a potential buyer of such an expensive product. Until these issues are addressed and found to completely addressed, I think I will be avoiding this product. It's unfortunate that consumers such as yourself are spending your hard earned money on a product you hoped would be a nice addition to your car, just to be put off by the company making profits from suckers like us. I hope you get the quality of paint you hoped for and get the issue resolved once and for all. Thanks for posting this.

Good luck

I completely understand their comment about certain colors being difficult to work with. Yellow's, white's, etc will leach. You lay down the primer and many times the top coat will soften that primer coat and leach it up through the top coat. It's not that the top coat wasn't thick enough, but that the top coat actually pulled the base coat up through it. I do a variety of small scale art projects and have actually started using an acrylic primer as a base coat and then an enamel or lacquer top coat. This helps prevent/minimize that problem.

There's a screw on the back of the bucket, the head is on the top end , and you adjust the lights up or down using them. There is no side ways adjustment on our head lights , OEM or these.

As far as the gap , did your OEM buckets have it ? These buckets match the outline of the OEM's pretty closely and bolt into the same fixed spot , so on my car the lines are pretty close to the same.

I am trying to post up a picture of the headlight. The left side there is like a tan color bleeding through and a blue color bleeding through. I missed the imperfection before i Put them on and now it is car show season. I would have thought when they didn't allow my post they would get back to me. They didn't now I go to car shows and tell others that to stay away from any pre painted parts from American Muscle. I have the cervini B2 kit on my car so it isn't just taking the bumper off to remove them. I have ordered numerous times from American Muscle, but the pre painted parts they sell are not up to any standard. For the price they charge and knowing that they had problems with certain colors, they should have checked them more thoroughly. Name: Image.jpg

THANKS! I'll post a pic of the gap later tonight.

Here's two pics showing the gap between the light and the bumper. The third pic is where I think the bulb adjustment is. Is that correct or is it somewhere else?

Yes that is where you do the vertical adjustment ...

As far as the gap , since the bucket bolts to a fixed location I would think that it's your fascia that needs adjusting. My buckets sit about the same position as the OEM ones did and cover the gap just about like the plastic shield on the OEM buckets did.

After taking another look at your pictures there is a , shall we say , shovel like scoop on the bottom of the buckets that a tab on the fascia is supposed to slide into. It looks like you may not have it in there and that would make the fascia sit below the buckets and cause a gap

X2 on that. I can't imagine they would fit with that much of a gap. Good luck I hope you get it fixed because I would be disappointed with that fitment as well
