Alternative paint

I saw this paint on a car program yesterday. The car was a BMW M3 hybrid with supercharger, turbo *and* nitro. Wicked.
Anyway the thing that made it look absolutely mean was the paint - a polished black basecoat covered with layers of silver nitrate and candy paint. The result looks more or less like bare metal. Here's a pic (hopefully):
I'd like to see a 05 in that dress.

I'm no chemist, but I am a silent film historian. Silver nitrate is what they made movies out of prior to 1950. It's simular in chemical composition to gunpowder. It is even capable of spontanious combustion. Films have been stored in cool, dry archive buildings and suddenly exploded killing dozens of people.
Is this what they're making your paint out of?

Has anyone actually looked at the colors Ford is pedalling on the new mustangs.
I personnally am rethinking spending $40k on a vehicle that has a limited and uninteresting choices. Mineral grey is BROWN, Silver is a plain GREY and I won't start on that Poof Blue or Sn_t Green.

Sorry; $40k is the (Guessed)Canadian price (Taxes in) of GT vert. loaded.
Dealer says June 05 for delivery.
I've always wanted a Mustang and the 05 looks really excellent, so, I'm trying real hard to justify a Summer car. Ford is not helping.

It's probably Mirrachrome from Alsa corp..
I thought about getting my FFR Cobra painted with this stuff and it would look like a polished aluminum body. There are videos on their site that actually show the paint going on. They have some pretty neat products.

searching on their website I also found this. It's paint that reacts to heat like a mood ring! Too Cool! Perfect for those who just can't pick a color.
