Altec License Plate Frame - Plastic Covered

I thought these looked pretty cool. They also have a rubber pad to prevent the plate from marring up the paint.

Anyone have experience or know a good price somewhere? I'm finding like 30 bucks shipped. Kind of steep I think.

I had clear plastic cover on my plate (too keep the dirt off). I was pulled over by a cop and told that it was ilegal to have anything covering the plate. I could understand if it was tinted and they couldn't see the plate, but it was clear. I don't want to give the Police any additional reasons to pull me over so I took off the plastic cover.

Mine was less than $10 at my local parts store.
It had the Bell name on it.

No.
I put my own pads on the back of any plates or frames I put on my vehicles.
That one has felt in the place where it touches the paint on the bottom.
I can use felt because I never drive in the rain.
The top is held to the black plastic with velcro straps and doesn't touch the paint.
My rear plate has no cover and rubber on the back.

Did you get some adhesive rubber strips for the back plate?

I've got a big 'ol box of rubber with and without adhesive.
I used the adhesive type.
