i got mine from a shop that does fab work. It's just stainless and had it cut big enuff to hide the self taping screws in the bumper support. Sprayed it with satin rustoluem.. cost like 20 bucks to do..

I was also under the impression that the spoiler came in a finish that would not need to be painted, but I received a "raw" version from American Muscle. I'm not so much annoyed about that as I am about the fit of the spoiler. The instructions say to "stretch it" into the opening, but mine was too big for the opening and ended up being slightly wavy along the bottom portion where it should be flat. Also, the tape doesn't want to stay taped because of the misfit, so I'm just going to have the body shop that does some paint work I wanted "finesse" it for the proper fit. Moderately disappointing though because I had not read many negative comments about the install and it's pretty straightforward.

Welcome to the modding world. I'ts almost a given that every aftermarket piece will come w/ some type of headache. There are exceptions though

My chin spoiler from CDC was raw, ready to instal, and went on perfect. I wish everything went that way.

this is my 8th mustang, so I've been modding a while. The agent 47 mirrors were a great fit, nice finish and installed as advertised, but you're right....there is always some variance. some parts are probably more prone to these issues than others.

That is the classic spoiler (very nice, by the way) which doesn't remove the lower grill with it's corresponding vertical supports. I liked the look of the aggressive better, but I think I'm going to have to figure out some support and grill arrangement for the opening as the spoiler is more flexible than I thought it would be and other members have mentioned that rocks have claimed their air conditioning radiator. I'll post a picture of the issue later.

Here is a picture of the spoiler installed by myself (arguably not a body man but not without some experience). This particular mod is aimed at people like myself to be able to do it in their driveway, so I expected a little better fit, but oh well. I think it will look pretty good when I get it straightened around and painted, but you can see how it is wavy from being too big for the opening and lifting from the sides.

hmm are you sure you cut enough clearance for the inside lower corner opening of the spoiler? Mine doesn't do that but I cut a small bit more in the lower corners of the GT bumper.

Pretty sure, but I'll revisit it tomorrow. Good thought. I did cut a little more than indicated in the instructions, but maybe it wasn't enough.

Have to agree here, and also might want to have molded into the bumper or something. I've had mine for 3 years and I can tell you that the wind makes that baby flex a lot and the paint doesn't fare too well.

Cool

Mine was yello-ish in color but that was in 05.

Made up this insert for this chin spoiler the other night. Simply purchased a piece of flat aluminum from local parts store, sprayed it with clear coat, installed using windshield sealer. Had to do a little cutting and shaping, but only took about 30mins to install. Hardest part was working under the car, on my back, a lift would have been much easier. Pictures are not the greatest, but you get the idea. Left the grill the original aluminum color, may spray it black at a later date.

Well I finally resolved it to my satisfaction for now. I didn't like the flexibility of the spoiler or the fact that I couldn't adequately tape the spoiler to the bumper because of the misfit, so I took a thick flat piece of aluminum, drilled 7 holes and flattened out the spoiler. The aluminum also hooks under the original front facia to help in attaching the spoiler at both ends. No more need for tape. I found some thick aluminum mesh that matches the bullitt grill pattern and shaped it to the opening, attaching it with the same bolts. Spray painted everything with duplicolor truck bed spray liner for easy maintenance until I stop driving the car so much and get a custom paint job.

Some may not like the stainless hex heads across the spoiler and I may be with you. Haven't decided yet, but I can substitute them for black. Also, I know the paint on the mesh will chip the first rock that comes along, but I will eventually powdercoat that piece. Anyway, heres a couple pics.

I painted my bolts with a charcoal grill paint and it's a perfect match to CDC spoiler.

I purchased my Classic spoiler through American Muscle and it came textured black and was in perfect condition when I took it out of the box.
