We've found an aftermarket hood made by RKSport [The Mustang California Dream Ram Air Hood] that we're thinking of purchasing. I've never attempted a mod like this. Has anyone bought/installed a fiberglass hood? Are there cross members and such like the stock hood? We'll have the gas struts by next week that I'll be installing on the stock hood. Would I be able to use them on the new hood? Any help for this newb would be appreciated...

Hope to know soon. Never done it before.

I've placed my pre-order for the same hood. According to the manufacturer, it's suppose to be a direct bolt on replacement (same factory hinges, latch, etc). Just light sanding prep, prime and paint. It's suppose to ship mid June. The $450.00 price last until the end of May 2005, after that, normal retail will be $695.00

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes easy as they say it's suppose to be.

I ordered mine also. Hope it is as easy as it sounds. Now to find someone who can paint. I hear you have to get the hood fitted to your car, so there is some work to be done here.

I have the first version that RK Sport put out and there were a lot of problems with it. Several of us here on the forum got it and all us had problems. If you look at past threads you should find postings on this. The first version didn't not fit very well and required fiberglass work and modifications to the hinges. All in all I'm pleased with the way it turned out , but it took a lot more work than what RK Sport said. Supposedly this new version is a better fit and in better shape. Also you will need hood pins , or it may blow off at highway speeds. Good luck ...

Thanks for the replies everyone. The price is nice [till 5/31] and we were going to do the hood pin kit too. Still kicking this purchase around and we'll have to make a decision real soon. Thanks again...

Looks like the link to his thread is http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index....pic=21027&st=0

It's a different hood style made by RK Sport. I hope the new hood has had much more QC before they ship...

I had emailed Mo at RK Sport about this hood and he said that you wouldn't need hood pins........

Steve - Do you ever make it to Tower Shops on Friday nights?
I might be going this week and would love to see your car!
(I'll also keep you in the loop on the next local 05 get-together)
