To those who are purchasing The aftermarket bullit wheels which use the Recessed type Cobra Center Cap. The 05 Running Pony or stock 05 bullit cap may not fit. I belive I have found a Flush Style Running Pony Replacement cap that will work on the Replica/aftermarket wheels. I have the on order and will post results with pics Early Next week!

Thanks for the heads up, Kevin. I know that the diameter of the caps are the same, but there is probably ftiment issues as far as how much different caps will recess into different wheels. I got a real cheap set of running pony center caps off of the 2002 (I believe) bullitt wheels and they fit into my '05 stock bullitts but they stuck out a little. I had to get some o-rings to fit in the slot and they work fine... can't even tell that they are there. But there is definitely going to be issues with what caps to get for what wheels.

Which aftermarket wheel company are you referring to? If it is O.E. Distributors out of Florida, I can tell you first hand what the difference is. 0.0700". I know because I purchased a set of black bullits from them, and a set of the pony logo spinners from Ford. They would go on, but would not lock in place. I had to do a little modding on the center caps to get them to work.

what kind of modding did you do? and are you satisfied with the result?

Not really sure I can fully explain, but here goes.
I wanted to put the pony spinners on, and they would not lock in place. So, first I had to determin the difference in depth between the cap that came with the wheels and the length of the fingers on the back of the spinners. It ended up being 0.0700". So, I removed the spring lock fingers from the spinners. Then went to a buddy of mines work place ( machine shop ). We got some nylon dowel rod. Turned it down to the same outside diameter as the pins that the spring lock fingers were pressed down on, made each one about 1 1/2". Turned 1/2" of the end of each one down to where it fit inside the original pins, thusly increasing the length of each of the three pins by 1". Next, we made a 0.0700" spacer for the inside of each center cap that would fit in between the three pins. Basically a big nylon washer. Siliconed the spacer in, siliconed the extention pins in, let them set up, then press fit the spring lock finger assembley back down over the new pins. The original fit had the bottom plate of the assembley resting against the back of the center cap. Since we made the spacer that was the same thickness as the distance we were lacking, it effectively lengthened the spring fingers on the spinner cap by the amount we needed. And they worked like a champ. Locked right in to place, fit nice and tight against the wheel. Just like it was made for it......oh wait....it kinda was
