3M versus Avery racing stripes

I am looking to put my order in with HiPro Graphics for some 10 inch racing stripes. The colour I want is alloy metallic and the brand that it is available is Avery.

I have heard lots of good things about 3M and the quality. Has anyone used Avery before and what is the quality like? Is it very smooth and shiny?

I work in the graphics industry (14 years). 3M is a little better but nothing you'll notice. Make sure u get a high performance (cast), NO intermediate or calandered. Note that metallic vinyl is more sensitive to weathering & cracking due to it's metallic nature. Should last 5 years, solid colors-8, black & white-10.

My car is only driven on sunny days during the spring/summer.....so I would imagine they should last a lot longer.

I have the avery stripes and the gloss is WAY better than what I got from 3M. Make sure to use a HIGH quality protectant on them. I use Maguires vinyl and rubber on mine. Wish you would hurry up and get them, I have been waiting to see what they will look like.

Just got them the other day! The guy gave me an extra piece for my GT500 rear spoiler but the piece does not have the transfer paper

Will have to roll everything else out to make sure it is OK. Is the word Avery suppose to be on the backing or anything so I can tell which brand?

How did you do yours? Did you get the transfer tape? I am thinking the spoiler will need to be removed to make it easier.....that would be a PITA given it has all that sticky crap on it to hold it down.

no transfer tape, and the difficulty of removing the spoiler probably would negate making it easier to do it. Used the wet method, should still be some threads on here.

Thanks for the tip....I will have to see what I can find.

It is still too cold here for me to put them on.....will probably have to wait about 2 months for the weather to warm up.
