3 lights instead of 2 for brakes, signals.

Howdy folks!

I've always thought it's kinda dumb that Ford doesn't light up all three lights in the tail lamps for turn signals and brakes, and that's since '96. What is the logic behind this?

Regardless of that... I'm feeling out if anyone who might have gotten the plug and play sequential harnesses, and now have spare tail lamp harnesses lyin' about... wanna give them to me? I'll pay for the shipping and a little extra for boxes, inconvenience factor. USPS regular mail or whatever's fine, I'd be in no hurry...

I guess I'd need one of those for each side, and then a different third socket to wire up to make them all work the same. Don't suppose anyone knows where to get those, besides another harness... In which case, I'll need two harnesses, natch.

I could go junkyard huntin' but I figure maybe a couple of y'all don't want them, and this way they'd not go to waste. I'm tryin' not to trash the only ones I've got. The goal is to have them wired up, and plug them in once. Yay.

Any takers? I appreciate y'all! Oh, Later '05 and up. I understand there's a difference.

Thanks in advance!

This is just an easy simple mod. You to your local auto parts store and buy two matching bulb sockets. The original inner bulb socket is not wired for the bright filament in the bulb. All the bulbs are the same so it is not necessary to buy any new bulbs. Just splice the extra brake/turn lead from the new socket into the lead of the center section bulb socket.

No, *you* would be happier... I'll be satisfied with just this.

/When everyone, including all '10s, have them, it kinda loses the appeal, y'know?

Still appealing... when all cars have them, then it may lose its appeal.

Sequentials are a nice touch, but not everyone wants them, I did always wonder as Houtex did, why the third bulb wasn't used, in any event, to each his own.

Just my thoughts... *you* was not trying to get you to run sequentials, it's your car, it was only a suggestion for your tail light issue as it appeared to me you wanted the third bulb used, all of us have different ideas and want to share them or make a suggestion to help out a fellow member as we are all enthusiasts about our cars, so chill just a little..........

I did this socket mod last year and I like it a lot better than the stock setup. Brake lights are brighter now.

I sorry. I shouldn't have emphasized 'you' in my post without a smiley. I said it in a little jest. And definitely not in a defiant, jerky tone... so very inadequate are words... Sigh...

So, to make amends:

/oh, and still lookin' for a harness set or two...

Before I got my sequentials, the first mod I did to my 08 Mustang was just switching the inner and center bulb sockets with each other so that the outer and inner would flash during turn signal activation and light up with the brakes. I also did this to my former 1994 (with 1996 taillamps) and 1999 Mustangs plus bought two extra three wire sockets for the center sections and wired them directly to the third brake lamp so that when the turn signals activated during braking, the center section would stay lit while the outer and inner sections flashed.

If sequentials, which I think are cool, offend some, then go with the chase style from webelectric
