Well everyone wants to know the deal with the rims. Well my buddy works at the plant that makes them. Here are a few pics.

It is rumoured that the polished one is the wheel that is offically supposed to go into production for the 06 model. It is for the Mustang GT model but it is an option and not the base. The one with the painted spokes is being proposed to Ford.

I only see 1 rim

edit: oh there it is

The painted ones look dumb. So they won't be offered any time during 2005? They're polished now, not chrome?

That is right, not chromed anymore. He said a lot of the companies are going away from chrome because of the negative effect they have on the environment. A lot of manufacturers are starting to go with more and more polished rims.

I think I like the painted ones better, but I would have to see them both on an '05 to know for sure.

Yeah, I don't understand all the hype about them, don't seem like anything special to me.

Yes chrome = crap. About the only advantage I can see to a chrome wheel is the ability of a chrome wheel to sacrifice itself over time instead of the finish on your car in much the same way zincs on the hull of a steel boat protect the boat. I have seen OE chrome plated wheels corroded so bad that the aluminum wheel was pitted itself and the center caps were practically welded in place by a layer of corrosion so thick the center cap broke upon trying to remove it.

The fan blade wheels are still ugly, IMO, but the painted looks better than the polished.
