Has anyone placed the Cobra snake on the front quarter panel? If so will you post some pics and let me know where I can find them?

I haven't added one to the Mustang, but I did to my Cougar dash, but it has a 428 Cobra Jet.

You can get the chrome stick-ons at any Mustang vendor like Mustang Unlimited.

I got mine from 50resto.com. I think they were $10 apiece, plus $5 for shipping. I've seen them elsewhere for twice that. I get alot of comments, a few negative, but mostly good, people saying that they didn't think the Shelby was out yet, or "Wow, an '05 Cobra". I guess it never occurs to some that these snakes just stick on, easy as that. I always mention that I put them on myself, though.

so they fill the factory holes where the GT emblem goes?

They don't "fill" the holes, but they do cover them up. The emblems were listed as '79-'04 Cobra fender emblems. They came with tape already on. Just peel and stick. I think they're smaller than the ones that are on the '07 Shelby, but those aren't available yet.

Try TNT mustang, David Turner there really goes out of the way for you. give him a try. He will cut off the post of the classic emblems and put 3m tape on for you.

Seems to me that the cobra emblem should be left to the real cobras.

Certainly a valid opinion, and shared by many. I don't see how it's that important, though. How can I be a fake when real 05 Cobras don't exist? If Cobras are wrong, why are Shelby stripes ok? It's been discussed before, but I do respect differing opinions.

You can't see them well but there on there. I also added the 67 gas cap insert on the trunk emblem as well. I will probably be bashed for it but I liked it. (Mrs Redfire bashed me for it) The side snakes cover the holes fine. You can purchase them without the tabs. I got mine from Mustangs Unlimited I went with the ones from the 67.

My personal opinion, and that's all that it is, is that if you do a lot of special work on your car to make it appear/perform better, I don't see anything particularly wrong with badging it like a Cobra that doesn't exist. Now, if that's your one-and-only mod, to try and make people thing you're cool... that's just lame. Regardless, if it makes you happy, and it's your car, go for it!

It is sad I believe that even when there is no foundation that someone is trying to replicate and it is the individual bases of everyone who owns an 05 what an 05 cobra might look like in their opinion. Then what is the problem?

I went with a 67 GT350 tribute with mine. I got the 67 badging from TNT mustang and have the side emblems, and the front and rear emblems. That is what I like about the new mustang, it is a palet to design your own car. I agree if that is your only mod, re think. I know there will be a 07 GT500, so "IF" the had come out with a GT350, this is my idea of how it would look. The 4.6 is smaller engine of what ford will put in the GT500 ( as they did in yesteryear) anyway IMHO.

Now this is a real cobra! No really, its a real cobra. It's no any ordinary Cobra. It's a KING Cobra.

If Ford can put a cobra emblem on a mustang II with 122hp, and call it a cobra, then I really don't have a problem if someone put a cobra emblem on a mustang with 300HP.

JMO.

Now if I go and buy a GT500 Cobra, and see any Cobra emblems on non GT500's then it will bother me

I like the cobra emblem... just 'cause it looks cool.
I've got no problem w/ snakes on a car, I think it'd be different if someone actually put the words COBRA on the car. -then you're being an imposter.

I understand cobra owners sentiment towards those who try and replicate an already existing cobra but when there is no current platform with which to base what a cobra would or wouldn't look like then why the negativity

Its your car. You paid for it. To heck with what anyone else thinks!!! (Darn Filter) I'v seen some mods that make me want to vomit, but everone has a differnt view and point of reference. I like to look at everything and pick and chose. Personally, By the time i finish with my GT it will be better than a cobra. Better brakes, Blown motor, most likley more HP, So i may just put some cobra emblems on it. And AFBlue is absalutly right. Its just a markiting tool of Ford. Just my 2cw....
