What a game! I thought for sure we were going into extra innings.
That was the correct call for obstruction he definitely would have scored if the 3rd baseman didn't get in his way.
GO CARDINALS!!!!

And yes - the umpires are really working to get the calls right. Strike zone has been a little inconsistent but not too bad, but with the reversal in game one to get the call right (in Boston's favor), and following the rule book on this 9th inning call, Great Job Umps!
I know Boston may not like it and a few players are whining but the replay says it all.
If it wasn't for Middlebrooks - intentional or not - Craig would have scored the walk off winning run. And third base ump pointed it out before the play at home was even made.
>Heck the example in the rule book explains this play exactly.<
Obstruction is also among the terms defined in Rule 2.0. "After a fielder
has made an attempt to field a ball and missed, he can no longer be in the act
of fielding the ball. For example: If an infielder dives at a ground ball and
the ball passes him and he continues to lie on the ground and delays the
progress of the runner, he very likely has obstructed the runner."

Now look at the pics:

Their fans really got angry last night when I pointed out that they are angry over this legal call and yet our team didn't make a stink when Boston's pitcher had a controversial substance on his glove for game 1

-we cheated
-umps should never make a call that decides the end of a game especially a world series game (what?! seriously?!)
-he was out of the baseline (how? I watched the replay over and over last night)
-he dove five feet from the line (yeah that's why his feet are on the line)
-craig pushed him down
The list seems to go on but all of it is crap. He slid in without touching the baseman, sees the past ball, stands up slightly pushing off the side of the bag which only slightly gets him directly off the chalk line and certainly not out of it and heads directly home tripping over the baseman. There's no denying it. It was plain obstruction black and white its done.
