At least Texas is giving them a fight for it now. If nothing else I'm proud of their effort in the second half.

 

Agreed. Just really tough for a freshman QB to come into this situation. However, I will correct my previous statement and say that if somehow Texas were able to come back and win this....IMO it would be easy to say Texas was the best team. If Alabama wins, unfortunately, it's hard to say.

Yeah, the Horns definitely weren't getting any help. However, like you said, you have to expect your team to play above those things regardless of how it seems, since over the season it probably evens out.

I just find it frustrating that this BCS game IMO really doesn't answer the question of which team is the best. However, I completely understand why McCoy is not playing. It's just not worth the risk.

Although, I was frustrated with it being a matchup without McCoy, (and I think everyone would have preferred to see McCoy in the game) Alabama does deserve their rightful credit for a great season and a national championship. They are not easy to come by and obviously Alabama has a great team. Congrats Alabama Nation. Enjoy the victory!

 

Yup. Just because McCoy has a glass shoulder, should not take anything away from Bama. They won. Flat out. There are no ifs, ands, and buts in football. You play the game on the field and the team standing with the most points is the winner.

So again congrats Bama on the 8th championship. Where you people get this 13 number from is some kind of fuzzy math.

 

Definitely cannot take anything away from Alabama. It's is disappointing though when a key player on one of the teams is unable to play when you have two really good teams playing with a national championship on the line. I really had no idea which team was the better team going in and was really looking forward to this years game, because it was such an interesting match up. However, injuries are part of the game. I bet a lot of Oklahoma fans wonder what would have happened this year with a healthy Bradford. I even remember when OSU got clobbered by UF (and keep in mind, I'm a UM fan), but lost Ted Ginn Jr. in that game. I really wished OSU had Ginn for the whole game, because I felt like they were a different team without his ability to stretch the field. In neither case can you say it would change the outcome of the game, but I always prefer to see both teams completely healthy. It just limits the "what if" scenarios.

I feel the same way, but a win's a win. Just because we lost McCoy (and believe me, I was screaming profanity at the television), doesn't mean they didn't come out with their A-game and play to win.

As for the Cowboys, I hope they trounce every NFL team from here on and go to win the championship. That'll get my spirits up.

It's a shame McCoy was injured. He is a phenomenal quarterback, and he'll be back playing on Sundays.

However, it shows that without him, Texas was not really a national championship caliber team. You could take away any one player from Alabama, and they would still win.

I actually understand all that. And the only thing I disagree with is the 13 number. It is their 8th since the AP or anyone for that matter began voting a number 1 at the end of the year with a poll or a BCS. This goes way back to the 40's or something.

It seems what happened, and I have not even looked this up yet, is that Alabama went back and looked at the records of those teams from 1892 and on, and if they had an undefeated team then they claimed a national title. Just seems kind of dorky to me. But there are other schools who have actually done the same thing. No biggie. Only people who care about the 13 number are Bama people.

 

Well, if you look at the chart at the bottom of this page, you could come up with a whole assortment of numbers for a lot of schools. Yikes! ....and I thought the BCS had controversy.

Uh, didn't watch the game, eh? Texas played admirably, given they had a quarterback who was, by all means, likely not prepared for what happened. It's a shame people like yourself can't grasp the concept of sportsmanship, and gloat the way you do.

Wait a minute, when Texas scored their next two touchdowns in the second half, I seem to recall... Mark Ingram had been pulled from the game due to muscle cramps. Alabama did not score until later, when Ingram returned.

Still, Greg McElroy is an amazing quarterback just like Colt is. Both teams were championship caliber, hence why they were both in the Rose Bowl last night. The fact remains is that nobody knows what would've happened had Colt stayed in the game. Texas might've still lost, or they might've won. There's nobody here on this board, or anywhere else except God himself that can know what the outcome would've been. Not you, not me.

In the end, both teams played hard, and congratulations to Alabama on picking up the championship win. (Notice how there was no 'but it would've been different if...' at the end of that? Again, the difference between me and you.)
