West Virginia is beating the ever-loving crap outta Georgia, and Wisconsin pulled a big upset over the Cow College this afternoon. Now I love to see Auburn lose about as much as I love to see BAMA win, but these teams are coming out rusty because of the month-long break between games and the quality of the games suffers.
For the love of all that is good and holy, D1 needs a playoff!

It would seem only Georgia and Auburn are rusty . . but I understand your point. Too long of a break between Bowl games and end of the season.
And it would seem Georgia is working through their rust . . 28-14.

AU lost cause I wasnt watching hte game
In realality, from what I have heard, they didnt show up to play a bowl game
On a positive note, how about that butt kicking LSU gave Miami?!?!!?
Miami should have known they'd get their tail kicked just as bad after the game, but they still had to talk smack.

I agree a month is a long time to wait between games...
But, if for no other reason then the #1 and #2 teams in the nation is decided by a computer there should be a play off of some sort.

Let's not forget these kids are students as well. My fix would be to elminate one non-conference game and have a playoff system where the bowls would host the playoff games. These lopsided victories and upsets scream for playoffs. And it would give teams in non-BCS conferences the chance to go head-to-head with some real competition. Like March Madness, it would be exciting since anyone -- and I mean ANYONE -- could win a national championship. Wouldn't that be great?
Yes absolutely.
Many VERY good teams in the past haven't even had a chance to play for a Championship, because they lost one game early in the season to very good competition.
If it weren't for the fact texas barey beat Ohio State earlier this year, we might be seeing a USC vs. Ohio State meeting tomorrow night.
As it is Texas won, and here they are. (Not to say Texas and USC arebn't great teams, but we'll never know how they stack up to other top tier teams right now).

It really should be Penn State and USC. Penn State beat Ohio State.
Remember, the officials gave Michigan back 2 seconds on the clock and Michigan went on to win on a last second play.
Florida State gave us a good run. I do agree that #3 should have been playing someone higher than #22
And the Texas / USC game ended up as advertised.
Texas is/was the best team !!!

well, you can't argue with the only 2 undefeated teams playing each other, but really all one needs to look at to know there should be a playoff is PSU v. FSU. (I realize that as I type this it is 7-7, but the #3 ranked team shouldn't be playing #22 in a bowl game)
The fact that they are students is irrelevant... why can basketball players play in the NCAA tournament during final exam time and football players can't?(schools on quarters and not semesters have finals at that time -- like OSU -- even schools on semesters may be having midterms) To top it off, basketball players may play 2-3 times during those weeks, while the football players only play on a saturday when it is very unlikely to have any tests. Also if the lower divisions can do it, why not Div I?
An 8 team playoff would take only 3 weeks. For goodness sakes, if no playoff why not at least have some brains and make the bowls play 1 v. 2, 3 v. 4, 5 v. 6, and 7 v. 8? Why is 3 playing 22?
