(Dearborn, Michigan) StangsUnleashed.com - A reliable source told StangsUnleshed.com that Roush is working on the next-generation Mach1. Prototype models already exist at a Roush facility in Michigan.
As far as a production model S197 goes, another Mustang variant (not the California Special or GT500) is in the works. Wheter we'll see that variant or the Mach1 first depends on economic conditions.
StangsUnleashed will make more information available next week.

Hold out just a little longer!! This is good news. I still want the Shelby for now, but it will be nice to see some indication of what is coming down the pipeline in the near future.

I thought I was going to be able to wait, and I did through the first model year. I'm excited about the new Mustang variants but I'm also glad I have the GT. The weight of these cars keeps going up, and that is a killer for overall performance. The GT has the lowest mass and the best F/R weight distribution, so that is what made me go ahead and go GT, well that and the price. I add a blower and ~50lbs and get ~115 fwhp (Roushcharger) for a total of 415 hp and ~3550 lbs and I'm still ~300 lbs lighter than the GT500.
That said, the GT500 will be a great car but I still can't get past the weight of the thing. I'm more excited about the Mach 1 variant than the GT500, actually.

I have been waiting for 6 months to buy a GT and will continue to wait and see what the 2008 SE will be. If it is a Mach 1 w/ a shaker hoodscoop and some extra ponies then I will be the first in line at the dealer to order one!!

No one knows the whens and hows yet... so keep your pants on
They could very well be working on a 2009 Mach1 as part of the regular lineup after the reskin... who knows.
Someone from the Ford camp mentioned the space for another stable mustang (not SE) which very well could be a mach1.

For all practical purposes those of us who purchased the CDC shaker with ram air are driving a Ford Mustang that looks like a Mach 1 with exception of Mach 1 badging. I got the first CDC kit in Arkansas. Had it professionally installed.
The hood shaker scoop looks exactly like the 03 & 04 Mustangs. I have noticed better excelleration as the speed of the car picks up and a deeper tone in the GT exhaust.
Add some MRT rear louvers with the CDC Shaker System and you have a car that looks like a 1969 Mach 1 (Retro).
Just my thoughts, why wait. Your 05/06 hood already has the cut out in the center if you'll look. I haven't heard anyone that installed the CDC Shaker System that was unhappy with it.

Perhaps you didn't notice I drive one of those monkeys. If being offensive was my intent it would not make sense to include myself in the primate brotherhood. As to not liking it, there is always barney.com

Oh, so now you take it a step up to racism and bigotry to back up a naive analogy. Brilliant!

No question about it. A shaker hood can provide a very imposing look for the car. The feeling it provides the driver is incredible.
