What's a bullitt?

From my experience, a clutch isn't broken in. But what does matter is how the clutch is used through the life of it. My previous vehicle was a 1990 Chevy S-10 I'd purchased new off the lot, and put 173K on it by the time I'd sold it. I could still get a healthy piece of 3rd gear from it, and so did the guy who bought it. It was the original clutch and the flywheel had never been turned To relate this to your concerns, which are valid IMO, I told the guy who bought it that if he didn't know how to properly use a clutch, that more than likely the disc would be dust within a month

You are right, clutch life can vary SUBSTANTIALLY based on the driver and his good technique...or lack thereof.

I am veeeeeeeeeeery scared to buy a used up one even though I would save a scad of cash just because I dont want to drop $$ on new clutch parts right off.

lol You bet I would if I was gonna do a trade in, or any sell. I plan on keeping my car's forever though.
I had some fun on my truck on my last day with her. Who knows what they did with it after the insurance bought it from me.
I went mad off-roading

EleanorsMine, I wasn't really clear if you wanted to know about the Ford special edition Bullitt or the original. The original (from the movie, as stated earlier) is kind of an interesting story. Everyone thinks it was a highland green '68, but it was actually made up of parts from 67 and 68. There were two of them used in the film. If I remember correctly, Warner Brothers also made several others for Steve and other studio people. They each had a special serial number.
The film cars then got un-pimped: Max Balchowski took off all the jewelery and painted everything he could black. Then Steve McQueen decided he didn't like the stock steering wheel and had a different one installed. There's an entire cult of people turning their 67 fastbacks into Bullitt replicas.
But to be REALLY authentic, your Bullitt would have to have holes drilled in the doors - where they mounted the cameras!
