Just curious how many potential Shelby buyers would choose Tungsten as a color - if it is offered on the GT500 - since most people seem to love or hate Tungsten as a color (I'm in the former category).

I'm going to have to stick with black. I just can't get away from the color and already have a ton of ideas I want to do to the car. The color having some impact on that as well.

Black is wicked, but I'll never own another black car:

- suffers from orange peel in the paint
- darn near impossible to keep clean
- quickly shows the swirls after several washings
- hot in the summer
- absorbs so much heat that the black begins to look really tragic after several years without severe care
- and on the new Stang, the sculpted lines just seem to disappear into the black, though I have seen some that look awesome

Like the ol' Gino Vanelli song says, "Black cars look better in the shade."

Me too, black for me, no doubt!!! The Tungsten would be nice but Vista Blue would be my second choice behind black.

Black...

- suffers from orange peel in the paint...

So the other Mustang colors don't have it? What kind of lame excuse is this?

Come on BC, you are one of the most logical and observant members here. EVERY Mustang has orange peel, the only difference is how much.

Tungsten Gray is dull and boring (sorry Brad ). You might as well have it with a A/T. Besides, it's time to give the Eleanor fantasy a rest.

As much as a conservative I am with colors and no doubt partial to black, I think the GT500 is no sleeper and calls for exciting colors such as Torch Red, Screaming Yellow, or Vista Blue and have stripes to match them.

Talk about a backhanded compliment!

Yeah, they all have the "the peel," but black is worse on ALL CARS. Looked at the new Lexus IS250 over the weekend - a black one - and you could see prominent orange peel in the paint of that car too. Lighter metallic colors show orange peel far less.

No Eleanor fantasy here - thinking of long term livability, fading, etc. Red fades over time, that's a fact. The blue is definitely a consideration; I like that a lot, too. Yellow does nothing for me on this car (though it looks great on the new Z06!) and ought to be outlawed on a Shelby, IMHO.

And again, I have nothing against black other than it's a pain in the butt to maintain.

Agreed with black being harder to maintain. I will still try and get it with my backup being the vista blue.

I have a beater car to drive for regular work days and the Shelby will be kept in the garage. I will drive this car you can bet but I will baby it and have it for a show car as well. That is something I have always wanted and I am lucky enough to be in a position to get one now in life.

1st choice would be the dark blue w/white stripes.
2nd would be the red w/white stripes

This "Diplomacy" crap has gone into my head.

Unless Ford comes out with other colors or a color limited to the GT500, Vista Blue with white stripes might turn out to be the most popular combo.

That is very true George. I really do like the vista blue with white stripes as well. However, my wife and I both like the black and she is letting me get the car with any options I want to add over time.

So a from the CINCHOUSE on pretty much anything I want with me getting black is an easy decision. ...not that I don't like the black anyways.
