Special Edition Mustang Reviews

Here are my reviews of some special edition Mustangs I saw at local dealerships during the last few days:

2007 PJ Saleen Boss 302
Highs: Crowd-stopping looks, classic musclecar sounds, super exclusive
Lows: Wimpy rear brakes, eye-watering MSRP, Ford should've built this
Verdict: Virtually guarantees a first-place trophy at car shows

2007 Saleen S281 Extreme
Highs: Pizza-pie-sized front rotors, makes Vettes look bland, extreme numbers: 550hp/6-spd/4.10
Lows: Single-piston rear calipers, Mercedes-Benz pricing, small displacement
Verdict: Vettes & Vipers should be concerned (for now)

2007 Roush Blackjack
Highs: Wicked street presence, ultra-rare, Roush's top dog
Lows: Questionable future value, low output for money, lacks popular name recognition
Verdict: Will make Shelby GT500s tremble on a road course

2007 Roush Stage 3
Highs: Beautiful appearance, good value, competent performer
Lows: Tiny rear brakes, questionable resale value, loud supercharger whine
Verdict: Best bang for the buck in this group

2007 Shelby GT
Highs: Looks/sounds/feels better than Mustang GT, serialized, completed at Shelby plant
Lows: Fake scoops, comical markups, can't shake-off Mustang GTs
Verdict: A Shelby for the common man

2007 Shelby GT500
Highs: Gorgeous, powerful, exclusive
Lows: Jackpot-dreams markups, plain interior, needs to meet Jenny Craig
Verdict: The greatest Mustang built by Ford (so far)

I would add that a 427R is the best "value" Mustang right now...but you gotta love the PJ302.
