So what's the Surprise going to be?
I'm surprised there has been no mention of a Convertible in any of the details, including Fords Press Kit. So what's the "big surprise"?
My guess is that the GT500 is an optional appearance package over the standard SVT Cobra.....
What say you?

As said last night ....This is what I believe .... Look at the pictures of some of the preliminary shots with the execs. There is one in particualr that shows a red and blue mustang without stripes ....
To you point ...
SVT Cobra
Shelby SVT Cobra

The "surprise" is either the price, Shelby's involvement, an earlier launch date, or the inclusion of the Sport Trac Adrenaline at the show.
Those pictures behind the Ford executive are standard concept stuff. The only thing they might be pointing to is the chance that the stripes are optional.
Outside of this, the Shelby IS the new SVT Cobra. One and the same.

I don't believe the Shelby is an "option" because I don't think Carroll Shelby would put his good name on a purely cosmetic option package.

The big surprise? Shelby will say he is not doing it for the money and forego his astronomical royalties so we can all afford one.
What a nice guy! I LOVE YOU MAN!

I think you need medical attention, because you are obviously losing it...

My psychiatrist will not find you comments amusing, neither will my post office co-workers.
Maybe a GT500H Hertz rental version?
Maybe a GT500KR "race version"?
I'd like to see a GT350 version with an all aluminum 350hp 4.6 DOHC, 6-speed or automatic option, along with IRS and all the good-guy handling stuff....
Sorry, but I gotta have an automatic if the wife's ever going to "buy in".

I hope Shelby doesn't just agree to "minor" stuff. To me, his name is synonymous with performance and should be attached to something really significant.

"The SVT Team unveiled what is being called the most powerful factory Mustang ever at the New York International Auto Show on March 23rd. The 450-plus horsepower, supercharged 5.4-liter, V-8 is the first production vehicle in a string of specialty Mustangs that SVT will help deliver."
Stangnet has a bunch more of the press release direct from ford

The "minor" changes I was referring to are probably good for 75 - 100 hp/tq.

Would the changes you're talking about (reflash, pulley) affect reliability to the point where Ford may not go that route?
