OK, for the record, I have also read that the GT500 will be 450HP+, problably closer to 500HP. Happy now?

The problem is that you come across as arrogant and your typing skills (mainly the lack of punctiation) make you sound clueless. Maybe you do know alot about the GT500 but it isn't very evident by your posts.

 

See i knew i wasnt the only that read that see that wasnt hard to agree why couldnt you do that in the first place im not crazy i know what im talking about you shouldnt be mean to someone just cause they dont know how to put periods and punctuations.

Tim I was wondering the same thing about having a talking conversation with him!LOL And BTW Iceman for the record what i said was that the Shelby would be the first car for under $40k with 450 HP, MSRP. I was referring to the price of the vehilce more so than the HP. Reread it. I also read it in a magazine, which for the record had puncuation in it and was easy to read. They are claiming it wil have 450+ HP....I assume they arent giving an exact HP rating as well lets see, they havent tested it yet!! Only people to do so are Ford. So Im gonna go out on a limb here and assume you were not there at the dyno when they tested it. So I will stick to my 450+ HP rating and not 500. Not to say it couldnt put out 500 but then again I am sure the 05 GT mustang could put out more than 300. And the reason everyone is on your case is because you come on here and not only butcher the english language but you call everyone morons and idiots and tell us how you know everything and are always right and blah blah blah. There are alot of people on this site who know alot of things and they arent you or me. have a little humility and you may learn something on here. We are on your case because of your attitude more than anything and hence pick on your grammer because it is easiest. A little advise story for you and then I will leave you alone. I didnt ask for everyones life story here let me give you some advice this place is for writing a few sentences not a book people. And let the record show i have been right so far which means i will be right when the GT500 can keep up with the new Z06 when they come out.

 

And also let the record show it will be my birthday this friday and that means since the shelby comes out next summer my next birthday i will be sitting in my new shelby but some dang person stole my license plate name Elanore dang you pay back is a b*tch.

 

Wait everyone should get a kick out of this ok my dad went to see if the name Elanore was taken which is was for a few years now and all they could give me they said was Lnore can you believe that i laughed i thought that was funny. Now look im writing a book now it must be catching it but anyway i was wondering do they call the Shelby GT500 anything else beside Elanore really im being serious here. What exactly have you been right on? I have only seen you post things that you say you have read in a magazine. We have all read those magazines that have been out for awhile now.

Also, while the GT500 is a fine car it will not run with a C6 Z06. The GT500 has nothing in it's favor. It weighs more, has less horsepower, worse aerodynamics, taller center of gravity,...the list goes on. Don't get me wrong, the GT500 is a great car but it is not in the league of the Z06. A far better and closer comparison would be between the GT500 and C6 Z51...but even that is still pointed in favor of the C6. Straightline might favor the GT500 but braking and handling should certainly be in favor of the C6. Only time will tell...

 

Wombat did you forget that the GT500 is going to have basically the same thing the Ford GT has just detuned and doesnt the Ford GT wiegh more then the new Z06 but still can out run it. Lets see best guess the GT500 is going to be running low 21s for sure maybe high 11s and someone said the Z06 mule has been tested running 11.5 how do you figure the GT500 wont keep up from the times giving looks like your wrong and the GT500 will for sure smoke and of the corvettes out right now i can promise you that.

They said in a magazine with a few mods the GT500 can have 700hp the GT500 is going to be able to do 9s easy with only a few mods your crazy if you dont think the GT500 wont keep up with the z06 stock when you add mods to it this car will be the fastest car on the road.

 

I can promise you yes promise you when these 2 cars come out the GT500 will rule you cant compete here GT500 under 40grand z06 75grand few mods about 800 dollars worth 700 or more horsepower then noway in heck the Z06 will keep up with it once you add mods which one sounds like the better deal here

 

Don't use the modding argument, considering the Z06 makes 500 hp and is naturally aspirated, put a supercharger on it or twin turbo, I am sure Ligenfelter (sp?) will get ahold of one.

Let's look at the facts. The Ford GT puts down ~560 hp to the wheels!!! and it only weighs about 300 # more than the C6 Z06. I've also read that the C6 Z06 runs around 505 hp at the flywheel which equates to 429 whp (given 15% driveline loss). These are very poor estimates since the Z06 isn't even out yet, so please take them with a grain of salt.

#/hp = 6.07 (less is better)

C6 Z06 (est.)
weight: 3160
hp@wheels: 429
#/hp: 7.36

For the C6 Z06 to match the Ford GT, it would need to put down 520 whp...I don't see GM underrating the car that much. So, as you can see it's pretty easy to see why the Ford GT is and will be faster.

Now for the GT500. I'll run the numbers for what it would take to match the C6 Z06 power/weight ratio. These are pretty poor estimates because the Z06 is not even out yet and we have no clue what they'll dyno. We also don't know anything on the GT500 so please take these numbers with a grain of salt.

So you can see that the GT500 will need dyno more than Ford advertised 450 hp. Even the 03/04 Cobra's weren't that underrated (advertised 390 hp, dyno'd 350-370 hp). But again, who really knows...the Ford GT shows how much power the 5.4 is capable of in a mild tune.

Now iceman, don't forget that the Z06 can turn as well. In the handling and braking departments the GT500 stands no chance.

 

Wombat you didnt include that the GT500 has 450-plus-hp closer to 500 from what a magazine said and plus it might be underated so i dont se how you can say it wont keep up with the new Z06.
