Shelby News
I know the SVT faithful will argue this, but I think this article may be a hint that the SVT name is out and the Shelby nameplate will take over. Ford didn't pay big bucks for a long term contract just to put the Shelby name on the Mustang only. Also, since it looks like the Shelby Cobra (roadster) will be made in MY2007, I would guess the Cobra name will not be used on the Mustang.

Read the same thing on autoextremist.com (along with some other Ford insight). I think it is sad to have Shelby's name on a darn SUV!! Hopefully it is just a styling concepts and not a full blown production vehicles! When I think of Shelby I don't think of SUV's and Trucks! :notnice:
Ford, Carroll Shelby. Ford has staked its performance future on a retro cooperative arrangement with Carroll Shelby and his newest company, Carroll Shelby International, Inc. Ford announced yesterday that it will unveil the latest answer to the question that nobody is asking - a limited-edition Shelby Ford Expedition concept vehicle - at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas in November. According to the media release, "This new Shelby SUV will provide a number of performance, handling and styling upgrades over the standard Ford Expedition model. The Shelby Ford Expedition model will offer dynamically designed exterior body accents, graphics and ground-effects, enhanced interior styling and electronics package, high-performance tires mounted to the latest state-of-the-art custom wheels, suspension and handling upgrades, and all driven by a Shelby tuned high-performance engine package." The Shelby Expedition is supposedly the first in a series of cars and trucks Ford and Shelby are planning. We can hardly wait.

I am neither pro/anti Carrol Shelby but there are some cars from his legacy that should be forgotten.
Oh goody a Shelby Expedition.
That will be up there with Shelby Edition Durangos from a couple of years ago. :notnice:
The Shelby name means nothing to me anymore. He diluted his name by putting it on too many vehicles. The original ones built in the 60s are the only true Shelbys IMO.
BTW, Saleen's Explorers and Shelby's Durangos were both failures. They were obscenely overpriced. What makes him or Ford think that they will sell this time around?

I do remember (you forgot the Shadow), and agree. Didn't the Durango SUV come about the same time as the Saleen Explorer?
Let's not forget the powerful and fiersome 1978 Mustang King Cobra. And Ford would never have the Cobra be just a sticker and stripe package. Oh yeah, they did that in '81. Does that bring the current Cobra less stature? I think not.
Doesn't matter to me if they put Shelby's name on every car Ford makes - if the "Shelby" Mustang version lives up to the hype then it will be a success. If it doesn't, it'll just be overpriced detroit iron. Personally I'm looking forward to the SE models, regardless of the name (Shelby, Mach1, Boss, Cobra...) and I will buy one if the price matches the performance.

how about a 2005 King Cobra!
how about a 2005 King Cobra!
I feel sick just thinking about that.
The '05 is retro...but it's retro in a good way, not in a King Cobra make me wanna vomit kind of way.
Okay, I think I feel better now.

Am I the only one who is angry at Ford for revealing an Shelby SUV when they won't even hint at what is going on with the S.E. Mustangs?

Can we expect a Shelby GT350 with racing stripes, a ductail and 18's (with 350hp hopefully) at SEMA?? One can only hope.

how about somehow getting the concept/GTR taillights in the back to work with the trunk?
That would be nice finishing touch

I don't know if there is an article about it but I heard it straight from Saleen that the name SVT or the SVT group might not be here in the near future.

How 'bout the Mach 5.4?

A Shelby SUV would be cool, if done correctly(An Expedition is not a first choice, but ya get what ya got)
