390 hp is the engine hp for a cobra. How do u figure more hp would be at the wheels?

The fact of the matter is that all cars lose hp between the wheels and the engine. And there is not much you can do about it.

Cobra has 390 mabey 400 hp s/c at the engine GTO has 400 N/A at the engine.

Both are puttin around 360 hp to the wheels. A tune will give you around 20 hp (at the most) a pulley change will again give you 20.

So at the most you would have 400 hp at the wheels. Good try with the 500 though... LMAO. What an idiot.

Dude, stop posting. You don't know what you're talking about, and it's painfully obvious. Ford underrated the 03/04 Cobra specs, what they rate as BHP is actually a good bit closer to RWHP. A couple simple mods puts the BHP around 500.

Look, we're happy you're happy with your car, go and share with people who care. I'm sure there are GTO message boards around out there for you to brag on. None of us want to read it.

I spent 30K on my GTO with 400 N/A hp. Lets just ponder for a minute what I can do with that extra 25K.

On an episode on Horsepower TV, they dynoed an '04 Cobra and came up with around 375 at the rear wheels (in case you can't figure it out moron, that's well over 400HP at the crank). After a pulley change and a computer tune, they were pulling something like 420HP at the rear wheels. Again, in case you can't do the math, that's very close to 500HP. Perhaps if you did a little research instead of running that obnoxious pie hole of yours, you might have a f-ing clue.

Using the traditionally used 15% drivetrain loss, 420RWHP equates to 494 crank hp. Here's the formula in case you can't comprehend the above statement:

420/.85 = 494

The Fact is A GTO has Much more potential than the 04' or the 07' Cobra.

The Shelby is a Great car but the price tag is not worth it.

For 25K less I think I did pretty well. For 5-7K I can Make my GTO into a car that will down right slaughter a Shelby GT 500. And ill still have the extra 20 K in my pocket.

Honestly, you are on the wrong board.

I understand your excited about your new car and got an excellent deal; however, I think everyone would agree (even Chevy and Pontiac owners) that the body style on the new GTO was a big let down. I agree with your that yes it has some ***** but absolutely no looks (in my option).

I would much rather have a 07 Shelby Cobra (even if it is marked up) with the reputation and classic style. Maybe Pontiac will step it up in 2008 and come up with a different body style.

To each is his own, I guess.

Guys, I'd like to apologize for my fellow Tampa resident wakerider017. It seems our wonderful sunshine and warm temperatures has scrambled his brain and thought process. With help ( and a ride in a real car like a '03-'04 Cobra ) he may be able to regain some sanity. The '05 GTO is a very nice car performance wise, but no one on this board would take an '05 GTO over any '03-'04 Cobra. The car's styling is just too plain and boring. It may keep up with a '03-'04 Cobra with it's 400hp, but that's the ONLY thing the '05 GTO can compete with. If you go to mygoat.com, I'm sure those guys may side with you wakerider017. No sense causing trouble here.

EDIT: I voted for the Z06 only because the Z06 does have much more to offer than the Shelby GT500 in performance wise. But in real life those two cars will never be the same price. That would be suicide for Ford.

Nick, I'm sure if you just google GTO, you'll find 1 or 2 forums that care about how pretty the new Grand Prix is and how much more H.P. it has, but not HERE!! You couldn't give me a new GTO or Z06 or even both, b/c I couldn't care any lesser about them, I'm a Mustang fanatic, thru and thru!!!!! In fact, if someone did give me both, I'd sell them just to buy more Mustangs and parts!!! And if I only got $40k for them both, I'd be happy!!!!
