$ Shelby 2006-2007 $

They won't even give us a price next week. Just watch, they'll pull a Chevy Z06 on us and wait a few months before telling us a price (Corvette fans had to wait what, 6 months after unvailing?). I just hope we get some exciting news. Not this, "Here's the awesome Shelby GT500 you've all been waiting for." and "Horse power will be around 450" and "0-60 in mid 4's and 1/4 mile in mid 12's" and "Where else can you get this kind of power and automobile in a coup for around $40,000" I want specifics. I'm sure we'll see the convertible from the R/T article. I'm affraid we'll see the same blue mule from the pictures we've seen in the past. That one looked more like a production vehicle than test mule. Then we'll hear about the GT/CS. I know I'm being negative, I'm just not getting my hopes up. Surprise me FORD.

I spoke to the dealer yesterday and he is getting 2-3 convertibles and already has a price of 60k for the first and told me I could me that I could have the 2nd if Iwant and the price would depend on if he is getting 2 or 3... Maybe i should just get the saleen or a roush co nvert.

No word yet it seems, and my guess, given the appearance and rave reactions to the Camaro and Challenger concepts, they may be rethinking their pricing strategy given that they will no longer be swimming in a one-fish pond.
The murmerings of around $40K, coming from their smug one-fish days, is, I think, much too high and a more competitive price would be one similar to what the 2003-4 Cobras commanded over the Stang GTs, which would be about $35-36K. If they do charge closer to $40K, I think the GT500 will become very vulnerable to being undercut in price and who wants to see $5K dealer rebates on a bunch of unsold $40K GT500 while everyone flocks to the just released low-mid $30s Challenger SRT8s and 7 liter Camaro SSs.

I really doubt that a SRT8 Challenger with 425hp is going to cost in the low to mid 30K price range. The Starting price for a 300C SRT8 is 40k! Not to mention the GT500 will still have 50HP/450 lbs weight advantage over it.

Actually, the 300C SRT8 price backs up a mid $30K guesstimate. There's a lot going on in a 300C that a more rudimentary, "muscle" car likely won't get.

I put a $2500 refundable deposit on a Shelby. I'm #3 on the list, and I placed it the day the dealership began taking deposits back in April 2005. The order banks will open in May, and at that time, I can custom order my Shelby. If the dealership receives less than 3 Shelbys, I'm going to buy another new Mustang.
The salesman said there are some p____d off customers who wanted a shot at the Shelby, but they closed the deposits at 7.
Past/Present Cars:
'71 Mustang Fastback
'76 Starsky & Hutch Special Gran Torino 460
'95 Mustang GT
