i had a great conversation with Luther the other day.
he made some excellent points about how the saleen and SVT cobra will be different cars.

One major difference is that there is no real feasible way the SVT cobra will out handle the Saleen. Whether it be n/a or s/c models. the 5.4L motor is an IRON block and will weigh about 200 lbs. more in the front that the saleen or even a regular GT.

the Saleen will be a better balanced car than the Cobra.

I am glad Luther is having fun with his saleen. I hope to get to that level very soon!

 

And a stock GT can be made to outhandle a Saleen.

I agree weight is a huge factor when talking about "handling," but what exactly are you referring to? Skidpad? Course times? Feeling?

Saleens 20" rims doesn't exactly help grip. The 18s on the Cobra may give an advantage to cover the weight.

Also, don't underestimate what suspension settings can do to the number tests. Weight isn't everything. Just look at the Z/G35. Same geometry, but the G35 is longer and about 180# heavier, yet gets very similar handling numbers (all but identical).

The difference is the added weight in the GT500 is over the nose (bad for understeerding) where as the G/Z comparo is much more balanced.

Only time will tell.....

Maybe it will handle better, but it sure as heck won't be faster or out accelerate one.

 

I would love to see the Saleen E go head to head w/ the Shelby. That is the article I'm waiting to read. :worship: I just hope that article gets written/published.
