Roush 427R Released!

MORE HORSEPOWER UNLEASHED WITH NEW ROUSH 427R MUSTANG

LIVONIA, Mich. (Sept. 5, 2006) - Yet again raising the standards in the Mustang world, ROUSH Performance unveiled the new 427R model with a total of 427 horsepower under the hood and ready to unleash with the turn of a key. This is the most horsepower ever offered on any version of the ROUSH Mustang.

The number 427 has been intertwined in the Ford product line for many years, both as a car model and one of the most powerful and legendary engines in their line. It is only natural that ROUSH, as perhaps the best Ford engine builder in the country, is the company to reintroduce the number to the automotive lexicon using modern engine technology.

Based on the acclaimed ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang, this version is slightly less in content but includes 100 percent of the fun factor. The 427R horsepower package is highlighted by the intercooled ROUSHcharger* system which adds 115 horsepower and 65 lb-ft of torque to the base Ford 4.6L, 3-valve V8 powertrain system. The additional power upgrade comes via a ROUSH-engineered ECM calibration which has been specially-tuned to work in harmony with the different exhaust system used on the vehicle.

Further adding to the style and performance of the 2007 ROUSH 427R is a four-piece aerobody kit which includes a stylized front fascia, front chin spoiler, hood scoop and rear wing and ROUSH 18-inch cast chrome wheels with high-performance tires and the special 427R striping kit.

The sports-tuned suspension includes all new front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs and sway bars and the jounce bumpers. Each component was designed for both comfort and performance by the industry-leading ROUSH automotive engineers.

Authenticating the vehicle are special ROUSH fender badges, decklid emblem, a serialized engine bay plate, and a ROUSH engine build plaque personally engraved by the technician who upgraded the car in the Livonia, Mich., facility. The ROUSH 427R is available in both coupe and convertible versions, and a complete listing of the content can be found online at www.RoushPerformance.com.

To assist customers in creating their own personalized one-of-a-kind vehicle, a variety of options are also available which include white face gauges, interior carbon fiber design dash trim kit, short throw shifter, door sill plates, and ROUSH sport leather seating.

"The new ROUSH 427R is a natural extension of our product line," said Joe Thompson, general manager of ROUSH Performance Products. "It has more horsepower than any car we have produced in our company's history and I expect that this will become one of the most popular vehicles that ROUSH Performance has ever offered."

Based in Livonia, Mich., "The Art of Performance Engineering" takes place at Roush Performance. In addition to the Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Ford Mustang and F-150 styling, handling and performance upgrades, a complete line of performance parts and crate engines are offered. For more information see your local ROUSH dealer, visit www.RoushPerformance.com or telephone toll-free (800) 59-ROUSH.

The 427R is to fill a niche for those who desire the power and performance of the Stg 3 without all the frills. 427R has a lower retail price by about 6k over the curent Stg 3.

It shall be updated in the section at the top for News and Press Releases upon public announcement.

We have a couple on order at our shop and set to come in soon -- i will attempt to catch some pics if i can.

Basically, it has a slight uptune in power above the Stg. 3 and all the same performance mods. Not as much of the Standard body Kit and a lot of the "frills" removed - mostly dress up stuff. The idea is, to provide a more cost effective Roush with the same Performance Characteristics for the Racing Minded Driver.

The 18 x 10 Roush Rims are similar in design - but are now slow process Forged, instead of cast on the 05/06 models. They also wear a high performance Cooper Rubber same as the BFG - but longer lasting tread.

The pricing - they are aiming for around 6k less than a Stage 3 - which puts it in the order of high 30s to low 40s.

Colors are same as others as far as i know from our Regional Rep a cpl weeks ago, and options will still catch all the current STG 3 stuff --- seats, guages, etc. But, one will need to pay for them as added options to the price.

That's a great package. I see Roush Performance as the top Ford Mustang tuner in the aftermarket. I just wish they would come up with a different front bumper and eliminate one set of fog lamps.

I think the 427R is a smart move because I think the $50K price tag on the stage 3 dramatically reduces the pool of customers willing/able to pay that much. I think I read somewhere that they are only planning to build 300 Stage 3s.
This price tag is also putting it competition with the Shelby GT500.

Percisely the reason for the development of the 427R

2006 Stg3 at around 260 Units --- 2007 maybe around 240. Roush is doing around 3000 a year based on current works --- of all stages from the Sport all the way up to the Stg 3.

After driving a Roush for almost two years - people are still asking at stop lights "what is that" and taking pics and movies of it as i roll. They are eye catchers ---- Jackie is Mineral Grey with Black Stripes.

It takes a small niche market to purchase these and yes, they are very close to a Shelby price with a moderate MA.

My dealership has 3 of them ranging around 46K, the Stage 3s are 5 to 9K more. I'd take the 427R easy.

Pics Should be on the www.roushperf.com site.

Look under the top menu for vehicles, select Roush Mustang and then the 427R.

Just wondering if you can order it with a 5spd auto?

(I'm a DAV with lower left leg nerve damge, which makes it hard to use a clutch. Tried to get Saleen to build an auto PJ edition, but they're not interested in doing that.)

I was referring to this...there's something about seeing an owned vehicle versus ones professionally photographed...

A buddy of mine back in the day had the 427 Cobra Jet ...ever since then 427 has been a magical number to me. I got the hots for this thing bad!!!
