Okay, the GT500 coupe & convertible are debuting in Jan (less than 2 MONTHS!!!). My '69 500 vert had the roll bar (not a true save your life rollbar, but cool) as did my '67 350 (with INERTIA REELS, functional, awesome). My other Mustang convertibles did not have this feature (obviously) from the factory. So, for all you Shelby freaks, and all you convertible freaks......maybe Ford should know how you feel.
Me:
$5,000 simoleans is alot of cake to blow to drop your top
I want a car that is distinct (that's why I would pay $45k, right?)
What would really knock my socks off? A real roll bar that looked like a styling bar. Yeah, if you could, give me those inertia reels, too.
So, let's let Ford hear your opinions...

At least make it one of those possible options that we hope are going to be avalible. This will at least keep the base price down while giving us the possability of something extra special.

Give us a fully functional roll bar no matter the cost.
Not only will it decrease the space for the useless back seat but most important it'll give drivers the confidence they need to feel their driving talents have instantly multiplied. A false sense of security is good, specially for the $50K vert owners.
Who needs the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving when the roll bar is an alternative?

Well, I for one, have never rolled my Shelbys- nor any of my other cars ever. I just thought it might be a nod to the past, and the extra safety is nice. Plus, for $5k extra for the top-down option, I thought it would be appropriate.
Bullitt, if the roll bar was like the earlier ones, it doesn't effect the seating one iota, but I guess you have never experienced it.
Those of you who purchase this car and intend to drive it full throttle (without any experience) should attend a school...and think...regardless of safety features.
