If it is not real, somone has a sick sense of humor. I hope it is not real. This was right near my work, and I've been known to "move a little quick" from time to time.
This was in north Austin, at the Taco Bell near Braker and Burnet Rd. I was looking at the car for a few seconds before I saw the badge, then I had to scramble to get my camera out.
Dude, this is for real! On http://forums.stangnet.com, before the server crashed, this guy was on there, showing us how he was making this Mustang for his job! Yes, this thing is real and you will get busted! We where taking about the 2 holes left behind, when he removed the rear GT badge. He just covered them up with those 2 stickers you see in the photo above! So, Yes this real & Yes a Cop does get to drive it everday for his job!
Watch-out...

Anyone could have replaced the fake gas cap with that interceptor badge. It's the same one that was on the police CVs. I'm calling fake on this one.

Why didn't you look through the windshield? It's not tinted. Anyway, anyone can buy those Police Interceptor and Pursuit Vehicle badges. A guy I work with has the pursuit vehicle one on his car.

IMO its a definite fake. He may drive this vehicle to work as a police officer but you need warning lights and a siren to be undercover and you also must have identifying government plates.

Crud, my reply went to the bit bucket.... I'll try again.

I did try, but it was too dark and too dirty. Even through the windshield, the black interior, black dash, black everything was just too dark. There was a pile of something sitting on the console, it could have been a black radio.

The tint was too dark to be legal, but here in Texas they are not strict (at least around here) because of the heat. But it would be kind of stupid to put police badges on a car with real dark tint. Thats just asking for it. But hey, you never know what someone will do to their car.

I believe it to be real. In San Antonio, Texas the cops have black Crown Vics with CIVILIAN plates dark windows and the same badge on the rear of the car. They have the strobes behind the front grille and inside the rear window. The ones in the window are off the glass so that they cannot be seen through the tint on a bright day until the are turned on. Only the a few have large POLICE text on the side of the car in clear vinyl so that it can only be read when the light hits it just so. The ones with the vinyl have govt plates. I always wind up getting behind these guys on my way home in the evenings. These guys follow you and let you rack up a few violations before they pull you over. Welcome to Texas! Years ago the Austin PD had a gang unit that drove very similar Mustang GT's. Rumor had it they were incedibly fast.

It all depends on what kind of work he does, He could have a portable siren also, or hidden. as for the plates they dont have to say anything about Gov or anything. Bottom line is it could be a cop or could not. My neighboor is undercover and owns a dodge minivan suped up and all. has no identification on it whatsoever just a siren he pulls out when he wants. hence undercover

That is not an actual police vehicle, it belongs to someone that posts here on the forum named Derek and he is trying to use that car as a demo for police departments in hopes that he can install the necessary equipment if an agency decided to purchase a mustang since Ford isn't marketing a special service mustang yet.

And, just to clear up the waters for you folks that live in Texas, vehicles operated by goverment agencies are required to have regular plates on the vehicle unless there are markings on the vehicle (fire marshal and medical examiners are only exceptions). If a vehicle has markings like POLICE, HEALTH, WATER, or what ever then it can have the EXEMPT plates or regular plates, furthermore the only emergency equipment required to be on a law enforcement vehicle is a siren.

As far as tint goes, the legal limit for regular cars in Texas is 25% light transmission, vehicles used for law enforcement purposes by a law enforcement agency are exempt for the 25% limit.

As a matter of fact I had a post on here one time about stopping an '05 with no front license plate that was driven by a Procharger rep, well this is that car.
