saleen is actually making some good looking vehicles resently... By not doing gills everywhere and just stealing 60's looks. I really like the quad exhuast pipes.

I should get a closer look at the H281 this weekend.
Signed up for a SVTOA/Saleen open track day and Saleen should
have two of the H281's there along with about 1/2 dozen other vehicles to drive
include the S331 trucks and S281 S/C cars, (but no PJ's, the press car is on the west coast--that's what I really wanted to drive).

This car looks badazz!!! Really looks hot, the kit looks god on the PJ or the H281! Kinda wondered to myself about the gt500 in the 3rd pic? Could Saleen be making/tuning up there own version of the Shelby?? Interesting... I seen that H281 on ebay like a week ago and was shocked when i saw it!

Awesome!! At least Saleen knows how to build a Boss-inspired Mustang (hey Ford, get with the program!!) I certainly hope Saleen decides to add the car to their '08 line-up, me want!!! Only question is Black or Alloy Metallic...

It looks like it is the second coming of the Shelby GT performance package and falls short to the PJ although it will probably be $15K less.

H281 gets a from me. I really like the subtle changes they did on this car. I could take or leave the quad exhaust but everything else looks good.

He also said that the parts should be for sale individually by the end of the year. We shall see. To me they would make a lot more money faster by selling the parts seperate.
So gauging by the differences in the two packages, Saleen will basically be charging an extra $1000 for quarter-window louvers and rear window louvers? Seems VERY steep. Aren't the Roush quarter-louvers (just for comparison) around $400 painted from a dealership, and even cheaper online?

Just some thoughts after getting to better know the H281 and PJ editions
at the track event last weekend. Saleen had 2 H281s and one owner drove his PJ.
Each did well on the tight 2.2 mile 18 turn circuit.
Both of these models seem more closer to what Saleen first started out with
using the Fox Mustangs.
The cars have suspension/brake changes, but less body mods than all the changes made to the exterior a S281.
Of course the PJ has the bigger engine, which just may find a home in Ford's new Boss model too (wink, wink, nod, nod).

According to the Saleen rep, the PJ and H281 have the same front suspension,
while the PJ gets the Wats rear set-up, (which can be added to H281 in the fall when SpeedLab will offer it as an aftermarket item.)

To me, it's like it's 1989 again with the base Saleen Mustang and the higher performance version SSC.

Having owned 2 S281 models, I really like the simplier bodywork of the PJ and H281.

Also the H281 is using a 18" Saleen wheel design similar to a 5 spoke TT wheel and which looks different than from the one in some of the early pictures.

Do I think the prices are a bit too high? Yeep, but what isn't now a days.

Thanks for the update Chuck, and I definitely agree that Saleen got the appearance package on the PJ and H281 perfect, just enough attitude but not over wrought like most of their recent offerings. Another big thumbs up to Saleen, great job on the design. I'll take a H281 in Alloy Metallic please...

Agree that the pricing is steep but it seems that since the S197 debuted the "price to play" has gone up exponentially compared to the older cars. I don't like it in the least but sadly it seems the current state of the market - as long as Ford dealers can continue to charge $10K - $20K over sticker for the "limited production" GT500, we are stuck with that reality.

I really like the combo. I would like to see the Shaker hood scoop as an option. Does anyone know if the Saleen 14" brakes will fit on the H281's stock wheels?

Well....It looks like my future H281 , after assembly, will go over to the SpeedLab side of SSV in Troy, for the brake upgrade. The Heritage cars are being built there while the PJs are only done in Calif.
At first, engineering said it would not fit the H281 wheels, but our Saleen
regional rep test fit the wheels and they clear the brakes.

You can't get the brake upgrade as a build option, only as an aftermarket add-on.
What all this means to me is it will take a few extra days to ship my car as it must go
from one part of SSV to the SpeedLab shop.

Also thinking about sending my car back to Troy this fall for the Watts rear and Shaker install.
Can't get them installed now as both are still exclusive to Saleen production of PJ, but should be released to SpeedLab aftermarket side by the end of the Summer.

The only thing missing from the Heritage edition is a nice billet fuel door in a new finish that nobody has done before on the doors

Oh wait, I hear it's going to get a nice engraved one like the PJ cars... but what would I know !!

Here's the lastest, my request for a Grabber Orange H281 has now
become a limited run of no more than 20 coupes.
I get the first one being built with an auto, (old back injury keeps me away from clutches) and the rest will be 5 spd cars.

Got a copy of my broadcast sheet yesterday and my coupe is at SSV
just waiting it's turn.

Marcello, I wonder if this fuel door is for the whole run
or just the 20 GO cars?
