Which mustang ?
Ok
Opinions, I am trying to confirm that I am on the list for the Gt500 convertible with my dealer friend. But I still like the roush stage 1 or 2 convertible and would even consider the stage 3. Or even the salleen convertible SC... I love all three. However this will be a car that I plan on keeping for along time and put very little miles on it.. I know all three are goin to be 50k - 60k ----

Thanks for the opinions.. Do you think the gt500 convertible will be out in time to enjoy the top down?

Ha. Yeah, you can enjoy the top down in....say..3 summers?
I'm a Mustang fan through and through, but the Saleen and Roush are total ripoffs, the GT500 will be great but good luck getting one for a fair price in the next four years.
Do yourself a favor and get a targa Vette. I am sorry to say, but the C6 is an amazing car.

Thanks -C6 is a great car..Only a 2 seater. And your right a fair price will take awhile. I am goin tom. to the dealership to confirm if I could be #2 for the convertible. He said I can be #2 but for a price. The dealer who is my buddy is promising me the 2nd one cause he has the first one sold. So we shall see how good of a friend he is.......
For $50k - $60k, I would probably get an M3 Convertible if you need the back seat. The Mustang is meant to be (and is) a cheap car. No new Mustang is worth that much money IMHO.
But, between the options, the GT500 would probably be my choice. It should come in under $50k (even with markups) has the best drivetrain, and would keep its value the best.

Roush S1 you can get for low/mid $30K's. Don't know what the S3 will cost. The S3 is s/c'd, so it's a better comparison to the Saleen s/c and GT500. I saw a s/c'd Saleen for $54K, and must assume Roush will price accordingly. FAR too much money for a Mustang GT with basic body mods, some handling upgrades and a blower, for sure.
Roush has a 3 year warranty. Don't know about Saleen's.
As for holding value, anyone who states that one will hold better than another, please PM me with this weeks winning lotto numbers. I'll post their predictions after the draw. The number of millions I win will be directly proportional to the level of clairvoyance on this site. From this, you can then determine the value of such comments.
If you can get the Roush or Saleen for less than the GT500 (appreciably less, at that), then consider them. Same price, or greater, GT500 all the way.
I like to think of it this way - use the GT as your base, and work out what you're getting for your money for Roush/Saleen/GT500. All three s/c'd, check. Bodystyling (assuming you're ok with all three), check. Handling upgrades, check. Interior upgrades, check. Increased hp, check. 5.4l engine, GT500 only. The GT500 gives you more, so Roush/Saleen can hardly justify greater/same/similar pricing to the GT500.

Its not a matter of our clairvoyance, unless you consider historical precedent a crystal ball.

If your a handling guy,the roush stage 2 is to die for.I don't think the GT500 will handle this well.Power wise, the GT500 can't be beat for the price. My roush stg 2 was as much as a cobra will be.A stg 3 will go for about $46,000 and that is very high.the entire car is warranteed by ford.Roush pieces will be warranteed by any roush ford dealer(and there are many).Fit and finish on the roush trim pieces are first rate and the leather seats are beautiful.Just get what makes you happy.I have $500 on a shelby and I will decide if I am going to trade the roush when that comes in this summer.

Yes, because four years is sufficient to determine long term market value.
Anyway, we agree on the fact that the initial cost of Roush and Saleen vehicles is laughably bogus.

Initial cost is too high for these models, when held up next to the SVT offering of like type. I'm actually surprised they're that high. I wonder if it's because they seem to hold much higher value, in the short term, providing some protection for the buyer when it comes to trade-in
Just sat down with sales manager ( who is a good friend) for large ford dealership today and he said he will get back to me tom. cause the owner is undecided with if he wants to wait till he gets the Gt500 's ( convertible) in to price or wants me to be #1 on the list and settle on a price now. I also got a call from salesman today about the roush's he said I could have the stage 2 convertible with a vortech supercharger (500hp) for under 50k or the stage 3 convertible for 53k. This same salesman told me he turned down 2 offers for 65k for the gt500coupe
A Different dealership that is getting in 2 gt500 convertible's said he has one sold for 60k and would sell me the other if the owner doesn't want it . But said it wouldell for 60-65k.
