There is an article in the Detroit Free Press today talking about the fortieth birthday of the Mustang this month. It mentions the GTR-40 will be at the New York Autoshow. Of significance, there is a casual reference to the fact the GTR-40 has 440 horsepower. Nothing else of significance noted in the article.
Excuse me, but it was an Associated Press news article from Detroit written by John Porretto, AP auto writer. Got confused in the excitement.

440 HP on a brand new engine is awesome. Who knows what the further potential is. This car is obviously not just about straight line though. It's a track racer. Also, for those questioning the big wing, check this out...

If I had to choose right now between an '00 Cobra R and this GTR, I'd take the GTR.

I have a Strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, that we're seeing a glimpse of the Next SVT/Cobra! Can someone do a PhotoShop of it without the Wing, Side Exhaust, Gas Filler in the Quarter window scoop, add some fog's to the brake ducts on the facia, and color the hood to match the body? If so I think we might have a good Idea what the 06 Cobra is gonna look like.

I'm going to NYIAS this month and I would love to see the 5.0L cammer in there. Hopefully that would mean the return of the 302.

Here's some good news I posted on the other GT-R thread you might find interesting:
GTR in the $40K Range!!!!! Check this link right from the FoMoCo Newsroom:
http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=17442
In the last paragraph, it says:
“The GT-R is the ultimate expression of the Mustang platform,†said Hau Thai-Tang, 2005 Mustang chief nameplate engineer. “Mustang spans more of the market than almost any other car -- from an under-$20,000 V-6 to race-ready car in the $40,000 range. The Mustang GT-R shows how we can expand that unmatched reach with the all-new platform.â€

they are EXPANDING the reach
Anyway thats all Saleen's work, you can tell by the ripples in the glasswork. :notnice: Ford will do a better job with the SVT. Its pretty cool overall, but now I realize how badly I hate the concept taillights. Ford just gave up the 5.0 cammer because it was handy at the time im sure.
