The 2007 is based on the 68. Now, get over it. All of this reading has given me an aneurysm.

Amy, will you put a plug in for more color choices than the standard V6 and Gt Mustang models to futher set this car apart from the masses?

yes, the basic package is based off the existing car colors, to cut down on expenses, but we will offer special paint colors as well.

Okay, the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang in 2004 was based on the first Stang rolling out in April 1964 (i.e. 1964 1/2 models -- yes a 65 Model year).

1964+40=2004.

That is the 40th Anniversary.

I don't doubt the information Amy is giving us at all, and it makes complete sense to me. Sure, a lot of the styling cues may be based on the 68, but just like the S197's as a whole, they were based on many different model years.

Just my two cents.

Welcome aboard Amy!

Ok Official mod hat on here.
Lets keep this on topic..it's straying a bit.
The topic is the Cobra named being dropped.
Keep it on topic or we close it.

Okay, helping it out a little.

I don't really care if they drop Cobra from the official name. It was getting a bit clunky saying the whole thing. people will either say the have a cobra, or if I ever got one, I'd just say GT500.

I do for SVT's sake..especially if they do make a Cobra and the GT500 becomes the top dog. I know it's just a name but i have other reasons than just the above that I'll refrain from saying here.

And my thoughts on people that say it's just name and to get over it..well if it's just a name then why not just leave it as a Cobra?
One reason..Marketing

Thumbs up

Does anyone besides me think Amy should start her own thread on this board to post bits of info as she gets them?

Welcome Amy. It is great to have someone in your position take the time to post accurate information about a car we are all looking forward to seeing released from the corral. :worship:

Amy,
If it is possible, maybe you could tell us everything you know about the final production version of the GT500 regarding hoods, badging, colors, options, tire size, etc. That would help clear up the speculation, mis-information and guessing that I see on this board as well as others. :bang:

"Pleased" is a state of mind. lol

I can only tell you, it's the first Mustang in modern days I want. I put my name on the list before I came to work for Shelby. And as I said at the press conference at SEMA, that's coming from a chevy Girl...

Welcome to the boards, Amy. Don't let the skeptics bother you; the natives are restless. After all, it's been weeks without any real news!

So, can I gather from your below comment, that the Shelby GT500 will be available in Redfire (he said hopefully)?

BC, I think she is reffering to the Hselby made car not the GT500
I could be wrong though

I think so, too, but I guess that's up to Amy to say. Welcome, Amy...
My thoughts.....I think that Cobra will come back, probably after the Shelby run is finished. I wouldn't worry too much. Think of it as Ford trying to make the most out of both badges..working to grow both brands. Maybe they will even use this on other SVT cars (the Cobra logo) as they had very successfully done in the 60's & early 70's (Torino, etc). Cobrajet powerplants were common in a number of Ford products, along with suspension/interior upgrades.
Ya know, that would be a really nice touch if Ford brought back the "CobraJet" logo for the Shelby (and others). It answers the "that thing got a Hemi?!" question/marketing with it's own classic answer (eat my dust, it's a C.J.!!!").

My appologies, I think the color package answer was in response to the CS 6 options.

Thanks for the welcome, I will do my best to keep you all updated on whatever we are working on. As with everything, information is only as good as the day we give it and get it, all info is subject to change.

On the Cobra name, right now it's out, but could come back.

Yep, about colors, I had asked in a different post about Grabber colors
for the CS6 and Amy answered that ShelbyAutos is considering doing special request colors.

What I wouldn't give for a grabber blue, or better yet, calypso coral!!!

2004's competition orange was the closest thing to a muscle car color that has been mass marketed on a car worth buying in 30 years!!!

I'm not counting the Daytona colors dodge is using now. The car is just to ugly....

Welcome to the boards Amy!

I look forward to seeing what new, or confirmed, info you can tell us. I am also glad that we have a representative from Shelby on the boards as well.
