My feeling exactly! I never eat or drink anything in my car and certainly not while driving (unless I'm on an extended interstate trip, in which case having some water or something to sip on is good) but if I pick up food to take home for dinner, I'd rather put the soda in the cupholder than try to hold it in my lap, or prop it up against the tranny tunnel in the backseat with a huge wad of towels or something. Whenever I take my '89 Formula out, and get some food on the way back, I run into this problem. It has no cupholders either.

If I got a Cobra, it'd be my daily driver -- so I want some daily driving conveniences with mine. Maybe a cupholder option?

I said when I bring fast food home, I didn't say I ate it in the car.

A few years ago, a cupholder in a Porsche would have been sacrosanct as well...but now the 911 has 'em...so...

As long as the windows go down halfway, so I can go to the A & W and have a waitress bring my Rootbeer and fries out to my car, and hang the tray on my lowered window!

Do they do that anymore? Many Friday nights that's what we all did (a few years ago, that is). It was a great way to see who was around, and who was driving what.

Ford needs to throw us a some useful info soon before we run out of important things to talk about.

...I guess it's too late.

cup holders are great, if anything they'd make things less of a distaction while driving. My '66 has no cup holders so whenever I wanna drink something I've either gotta hold it, or put it between my legs.

I'm definitely against it. Takes away from the look of the car and encourages people to talk on their cellphones while barreling down the highway at 80 MPH.

I'm not against a little slot or nook on the driver's side, maybe under the headlight selector, for extra change, cash, or receipts.
Cupholders encourage people to talk on their cell phones? I don't follow the logic of that one.

Argh, I meant to say EAT FOOD, not talk on cell phones. Sorry, lol. :bang: :bang: :bang:

I wish i had a cupholder... too bad Ford didnt design any into the Fox mustangs....it would have been perfect where the ashtray is, and in fact im thinking of trying to put some there

Btw my mom's old tempo had those things that hung off the door and they were terrible, once one of them fell off and got crushed in the door jamb

The Fox bodies had a cupholder. It's called emergency brake on the left, passenger seat on the right. As I remember a Big Gulp fit just perfectly there...

Well it's interesting what people call weird just because they don't happen to hold the same opinion.

I don't think people are weird because they want cupholders, I understand why they want them... I just don't agree with the notion of having cupholders in a car that's supposed to be a performance vehicle for the driving enthusiast.

I guess I belive that when driving a car one should DRIVE the car and not talk on a cell phone, eat, drink, put makeup on, read a book... or whatever else people do when they drive.

Not to say that cupholders aren't good for storing things... but yes I would much rather they be storage compartments... the idea the you should have a nice Big Gulp in your Cobra is just crazy to me... but that's just my opinion I guess
Let me ask? Do you talk on the phone while driving? According to your argument, you shouldn't.

Cannot STAND people who want to implement social engineering (or assuage their idea of what a "sports car" should be) by passing laws or restricting choice. If you don't want to use the cup holder, DON'T USE THE CUPHOLDER. It's not the government's role (or a manufacturer's) to overly restrict people's right to live freely. If I want to eat in my car, or use the cupholder, I can do it because I have never done so unsafely. You can arrest the idiots who do so unsafely and cause problems. It is not government or a manufacturer's job to change things to restrict peoples freedoms in order to make special interest groups happy. BTW, what annoys me more is your admission that "you would be happy with accepting the cupholders if they were general storage devices because YOU couldn't stand the thought of someone drinking a big gulp in their cobra" With all due respect, if I want to drink a big gulp in my Cobra, I WILL. Deal with it. Amazing what liberalism does to influence people that anything that makes them "feel" unhappy should be restricted at the expense of freedom.

futurestang....I think you have been drinking a few too many of those big gulps - calm down, it is only a cupholder! lol

------------

I'm all for them (cupholders). As **** retentive as I am, I still need to have something to drink on road trips, and since my vehicle's primary purpose is transportation, I will find myself having to transport a value meal from time to time. Since I'm a MT guy, it makes more sense to have a cupholder than to have to worry about holding it between my legs while shifting. I mean....would you rather have a few drops of Sprite on your center console, or 32ozs of Sprite spilled in your lap and on your leather seats?

LOL yeah what Seven said

I personally wouldn't want cupholders... I don't think they belong in a car like the Cobra... but that's just my opinion... for what it's worth.

I don't drink or eat in my car so I have no need for cupholders...nor do I want them... but hey man calm down, they're in there you can drink your Big Gulp in peace.

But be careful the government might be watching you muwahaaahaaaahaaaa.... I see black helicopters on the horizon

The c6 has cup holders. actually theyre rated to .92 gs of cupholding! (SERIOUSLY!) I wish the fox stangs would have had what my Mark has in the swivel cup holders that slide out of the center armrest. autoleveling for the corners.

I am seriously LMAO at some of you guys...

My Stang is my daily driver. I drive 60+ miles in her every day. I drink in her, I smoke in her, my kid drinks in her, my husband drinks in her. No eating, just because I cant do it safely and drive, my husband cant do it and keep it off his clothes, and neither can my daughter. I take my Stang to the stables twice-three times a week, and believe you me, I would have to strip my kid completely naked to get her clear of horse hair, and stable dirt.

We are an active family, and I spend A LOT of time in my car. Yes, I use my cupholders... they hold drinks, and cell phones, and smokes..

I also wash my car twice-three times a week, leather cleaned, carpets all vaccuumed, body detailed. While I do what I can to keep my car clean, I am also realistic about it.

When I take her to the track, there will be nothing in the cupholders. But, even then, I will spend more time at the stables (ever cleaned out a stable and not need a drink?) than the track...

Oh, and I talk on my cell phone too, while driving. I found these WONDERFUL things called headsets... its amazing how they allow you to drive and talk at the same time!

I HATED the cupholders in my 99GT, pretty useless. If and when I purchase a Cobra, I will certainly make use of those cupholders!

Geez you guys are missing the point... CUP HOLDERS MAKE YOU GO FASTER! With the reduced weight you get about 10-15 more hp out of it....

Oh and to futurestang go have some vicodin or valium or somethin geez. No ones taking away your right to eat in your car...
