Cobra Engine "Rumor"

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the ram-air setup we see above. I'm just disappointed at the appearance under the Mustang GT's hood.

Well we were sittin around the trailer last night eating K.F.C. and the subject of the new Cobra came up again with my Wifes Brothers Girlfriends kid who is working on the new film "Way Fast and So Furious". She was talking to the FMC rep in charge of the Cobras on the set and got some additional info:
There will be an option for a special passenger front seat. It will fold up for access to a compartment for "hidden" nitrous bottles! When you select option 1N20 it will have concealed nitrous bungs in the intake manifold.
There will also be an upgraded Shaker 2007 stereo option with 4 subs in the trunk, 2 of which can have sound "ported' to airhorns in the Grill! No work on AWD yet, hope to have more info tomorrow.

mmm....beer.
My guess is they will use a detuned GT motor, b/c they already have all R&D costs sunk into it. The only reason they may not is if it's just too expensive too produce and would drive the overall car cost up above a reasonable level.

I'm saying a less expensive version of the GT motor: blown, 4-valve, minus the oil sump, etc.
I don't know why they wouldn't just use the 3V head..... the 3V breaths better than the 4V, and I'm sure will react better to a S/C. If they want to increase the profit margins on the Mustangs, they'd do better using an engine that they don't have to R&D.. just tune. Sure, they could just use the 4V outta the Navigator, but, again.... I think I remember that the 3V heads have better flow. Who knows..... I'd be happy with either.... just as long as we get a 5.4
I've read that the 3V heads flow "almost as good" as the 4V heads on the intake side, but not as well on the exhaust side. This comparison was not using the GT's 4V heads. I understand the GT heads flow better than previous versions of the 4V heads.

Speculation on the Cobra engine is pretty much hogwash. Here in Detroit the word is that some time ago, a local performance shop that specializes in mustangs named Livernois Motorsports, was commisioned by Ford to build the new motor for the Cobra. But, unfortunately, Livernois didn't supply Ford with the full build cost for every individual part from the motor, so during thelast week of December, Ford pulled the plug and took the motor someplace else, even though it was only in the longblock stages.
I'm sure the motor is complete know and from some sources who have seen it dring its early stages, it is pretty awesome. Be prepared to be amazed!
The Livernois Motorsports web site is down right now, but check it out later www.livernoismotorsports.com I am not affiliated with either them or Ford, I just know a little

4 Valve head is hard to beat, but 3 valve is a good compomise for the Mustang GT, but I hope the Cobra gets the 4 valve head
Check out this info:
