I have read so many threads about how expensive the vert is. How that is way too much. I hope you guys understand that the svt cobra will probably rank up there with the big boys. If you are planning on getting a mustang but now want to wait for the cobra, you wil be :bang: once the prices come out. You will regret not getting the 05. Thats just my opinion. If ya have all that cash....all the power to ya. Have fun

I totally agree w/ you. With all of these goodies, this car is going to be expensive folks. Ford held the line w/ the GT but not w/ the Cobra. You want it you are going to pay. I cannot think about what it will cost to insure. 400+hp and 430+tq, Holy cow!!!

All I can say is wear comfortable shoes, because the place is immense!
I'll be doing just that at the Chicago Auto Show this year...it's going to be 50% bigger than last year. Over 1.3 million sq. ft. of floor space!!!!

The engine, which will be augmented by a supercharger, should produce just over 400-horsepower
Now that would be truly disappointing. A supercharged 5.4 should make at least 450. [/b][/quote]
I for one do not care what they rate it at . My Cobra put down 415 with only a K&N and cat-back, which translates to 488 SAE net horsepower. Doesn't bother me a bit that Ford decided to rate it 390 stock.

We will see the new Cobra at the New York Auto Show this year according to Thai-Tang! This info is from thecarconnection.com:

SVT Still Kicking, Ford Says

With no cars currently on the market, there’ve been plenty of rumors working their way through the industry grapevine about the future of Ford Motor Co.’s high-performance SVT unit. But “reports of its demise have been greatly exaggerated,” the head of the brand-within-a-brand told TheCarConnection.com, lifting a turn-of-phrase from Mark Twain. “We’d hate to give up on the brand equity we’ve established over the last 10 years,” insisted Hau Thai-Tang, the new boss of SVT, who until recently led the development of the new, retro-styled Mustang. An SVT version of the Mustang will be unveiled at the upcoming New York Auto Show, said Thai-Tang, and though he wouldn’t confirm production plans, sources told TCC it’s a bit more than a year away. Several other possible SVT models are under consideration, with an emphasis on adding a more mainstream product, such as a high-performance Fusion sedan.

Yeah and an 03 Cobra produces just over 390 hp...

Who cares what it says on paper.

It's very exciting news, but I was foolishly hoping it would appear at the Detroit show. March is so far away. I think I will be taking a road chip to NYC!

Sounds like a good place to start at. The fully loaded 04 Mystic model was around 37-40 anyway, correct? The stripped Vette costs around 44K for performance comparison.

Assuming they improve the car over the previous Cobra it's worth it.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Chicago Auto Show. I've been looking for an excuse to return to Chicago (awesome city). The fact that they've got more space this year might cinch the deal!

I'd say when everything is said and done (taxes, etc.), low 40s would seem about right.

Beyond that, I think Ford would be pushing it. Even with a high HP car, it is still 'America's pony car' car, and might be too up-market. However, if a Shelby model were to be introduced, well, all bets are off. That could be priced anywhere.
