the 5.4 has a half inch longer stroke than the 4.6, but it's all about how it's tuned. Why did the 460 produce the same amount of hp as the BOSS 302? It's about the heads and the intake manifolds, the cam grind and the way it's tuned. The Cammer 5.0 is right in between the 4.6 and the 5.4, but it produces up to 500hp natuarally aspirated fairly easily... it's all about how much money you want to spend to tune it to run like you want to. NASCAR for instance.... they run 700+ hp with no more displacement than 351cid (5.8L) naturally aspirated... care to spend $100K on the motor alone? ... Neither does Ford.... that's why I'm sure they're just going to use a relatively inexpensive motor they already have, and tune it to make the #'s they want.

If you haven't noticed, in the last 2 days (esp today) the cobra threads are really buzzin'. There are a lot of people just drooling to find out what Ford is offering. I sure hope it lives up to the hype. My personal expectations are very high.
I know I personally count for at least 20% of the views on those threads.
