Hey fellows, long time lurker, first time poster. What is missing from ALL of the designs we've seen from thus far from the SEMA cars? Answer, anything that remotely resembles the concept car. In fact, with the popularity of the concept car, isn't the oversight glaring? From the front fascia through to the backend, the SEMA manufactures have steered far from any design cues resembling the concept fastback. Ford's sacred ground? Have they been warned by Ford that this is the 07 Cobra, don't touch? Or is the concept just so ugly, no one in their right mind would build a car that even resembles it for the after market?

You might be right, or at least something that kind of resembles the concept. The back end can't be done, its just too short, probably wouldnt pass crash tests.

No, I'm actually a big fan of most of the concept as well as the 2005, just playing devil's advocate. I was just so sure that the after market would take the concept and build upon some of it's styling cues, maybe add a ducktail to the mix, but when they didn't.....I started to ask myself why...... the concept must somehow resemble what Ford has in mind for the Cobra, otherwise some company would be all over that design by now...wouldn't they? Maybe the same can be said for the ducktail...Ford's sacred ground too?

I'm assuming the reason that they didn't do the back end like the concept is for trunk accessibility. The deck lid would be too short without opening the whole back end... just as it wouldn't be feasible on any other Mustang since 04.
I suppose they could have got creative and split the lights up so that the back could open with the deck lid, but I'm sure they said screw that... too much of a PITA.

I dunno, I don't think it would venture too far from the production GT but I could also see some cues from the past and the concept. The previous Cobras didn't look too much diff. Subtle things only, IMO.

BTW, Welcome.

Didn't some Ford fellow say they were opting for more significant differences between the different models on this body style? I can't find the article though, so I could be wrong...... But really, every SEMA manufacture we've seen leaked photos for have wings on the back.....what's with all the wings and no ducktails? I think someone came down hard on these boys. They probably were told what to stay away from if the wanted manufacturing info from Ford to keep coming in.......you know.....don't go near this or we'll cut off you company

ummm i dont think theyd do that since companys now make facias and ducktails to make ur 04 look like a cobra so why couldnt they make it the same for the 07?

I love the concept more than the production. Give me glass top, liftback, and that rear end and lights, and hood scoops. Gimme! I'd like to see a sheet metal diversion from the Regular. (Spread the brand out).

cervinis concept has a duck tail http://www.cervinis.com. I know all they have so far is a drawing but looks like thats the way their heading. So does xmp http://www.x-m-p.com and MRT http://www.MRT-Direct.com and bonspeed has a similar hood http://www.bonspeed.com not to mention we still havent seen saleen's yet and Steeda took cues from the orignal concept with the front end having openings for the fog lights being under the headlights, of course theirs doesnt have fog lights there just the opening. Also check out http://www.westrenz.com and http://www.3Dcarbon.com, similarities are everywhere. I dont think anyone would just copy Ford's orignal idea, how lame would that be if they lacked that much creativity.

I think your right CLUTCH.....
My opinion on the SE and the SVT are similar to yours.
Ford is so protective, that Im sure that they have made it clear to the aftermarket boys that some things are OFF LIMITS.

SVT, looks like it will definitely have a similar HOOD and FACIA to the 05 concept, but with more muscle.....
Possibly RAM AIR or most likely SUPERCHARGED or both. Personally I think it will have a DOVETAIL or rear facia similar to the 05 concept.

As for the SE, if you look at Brads timeline, you will see some interesting photos
of BOSS 2,s and 9,s that are similar to the lime green or windviel blue with black stripes....FORD is poised for a BOSS SE.....if they are LAZY want to intoduce something in 05, it could be a MACH, because the sales and the feedback for the
MACH was so strong....and it would be easy to use the current shaker hood system
and the decal package etc.

Theres so much mis-infomation out there........BUT, your right, the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.
