Not sure if this is the same photo from a couple of weeks ago (that was thought to be a chop-if I remember correctly), but wanted to pass along the information.

From autoweek.com

Yeah, that recently revealed Mustang GT-R is killer, but here’s a look at what we think is the next Mustang rocket for the masses, the 2006 SVT Cobra running on the new ’Stang chassis. A wily AutoWeek reader caught this shot near Ford’s test facility in Florida, but hasn’t seen it since. Wonder what’s churning under that massive cowl?

The guy who took that pic, posted it on forums before he gave it to autoweek.

Ya they are testing something big in that thing. Undoubtedly a supercharger. I don't know if autoweek is retarded or not, but that is not what it's going to look like, obviously they were just testing the engine/drivetrain in a 05 GT.

They said, :this is the next Cobra"

I saw it a week ago on SVTperformance forums and half of them said it was fake, the other half thought it was real...

I think it's real. I don't think there are any photoshoppers that are that good.

BTW, i don't think it is that big of a deal either. We know SVT is working on the cobra, and that pic is NOT anything like it is going to look...so who cares?

it's just SVT testing there engines

Not to rain on your parade, but this is the bad photochop from awhile back. if the Autoweek guys thought it were legit, they'd have posted it on their main site.

Then why did they use the same photo everyone else has seen? not that I don't beleive you, I do..It's just, strange I think that they would use the same photo that everyone has already seen.

They said it was the best one. They were all taken as the car passed, so the others were blurry.

the hood makes me think the aftermarket companies are already getting with the bolt ons since it matches the rest of the car, mules are usually mules not necessarily well painted to the fact this car looks complete

That is NOT a Photochop, although there are people who are easily good enough to do it.

What you see is a generic large under which Ford can test whatever motor it wants.

You just posted what I was going to. That is the hood on that car may bear no reasemblance of what the real 2006 (or 2007) cobra will have. I remember seeing spy shots of the 2003 Cobra that had a very similar hood on the car. The real 03 Cobra hood turned out to be considerably different than the early spy shots.

That hood would not pass inspection in any state for sale. the highest point in the hood can not be over 2"(actually a little less) above the base of the windshield when the car is level.

Maybe test mules have some kind of exemption
