Saleen, Roush, and others could do a lot better with their prices if they would give credit for all the parts they remove and sale as take offs or work out a deal with Ford where they could order cars minus some parts which wind up getting replaced with their own.

He meant that saleen and roush should give their customers credit for the body panels they take off and replace with their own

The Saleen S281 SC is a bit more then just the ROOTS blower as far as engine mods. The powerflash chip and programing is added along with high flow fuel injectors, a complete air cooling and filter charger for the supercharger. The Internal components of the engine are stock, but lots of minor mods are made to allow for the superharger, increase in combustion, and power output. To many to list here, but you can call Saleen to get the list, to optimize your own car. The last numbers I have seen on the 2005 S281 SC indicate about 394 HP at the rear wheels and 390 lbft of tor. Your really talking about a 450 hp and 450 tor. at the fly wheel. The car will out run a Vette on the road course and the skid pad numbers are better. Straight line acceleration is about equal to a Vette, but hey you get 2 more seats too.

The stock block and performance upgrade components does not jsutify the difference between a 53K S281 and 30K for a GT - the GT can be built to similar performance specs at about 12K - and the Shelby is quoted by Ford to be at 450 /450 on the road w/ all acc. -- refer to the Ford release at Chicago Autoshow - published on MustangWorld....and numerous Press Releases since then...
The Shelby GT 500 will run w/ Vette stock - back seats incl.
