Another peek into "Whales Above"

Here's a look at one of the character doodle sheets.
These are possible supporting cast members.

Do as good as the comic stuff of others, but I'm still practicing.

Chris,
I'm usually working in at least 3 sketchbooks.
One large for auto art, another for other art, and then a small
one to carry around when I'm someplace where I
don't have the room for a large pad.
(It has all kinds of art in it.)

I probably replace one of them every 2-3 months.
When I watch TV in the evening, I am also usually sketching some
too.
It's just become a habit to doodle a couple of pages a day.
(Most of which I would never post anywhere, but I need the practice.)

Thanks for the support Arin.
Someday I'll have to turn this into finished artwork.

Ed--thanks, wow, that's such a great compliment.
I'm glad to help ignite the art spark in others.
Big Daddy Roth, Ed Newton, George Trosley and Charles Schultz did it
for me. Now I get to pass it on to somebody else.

Chris, thank you.
And if you can call me an artist, than I surely will also call you an artist too.
Art practice to me is just like in any sport.
I'm building "muscle memory" in my arm to make certain shapes.
The more I practice, the easier it gets the next time.

I'm diggin' the little bot guy. Nice sketches. He reminds me of a bulldog . . . I think that's why I like him so much.

Now that you mention that, there does look to be some bulldog in the design.
Time to rethink his look.

Also working on a beaver, they hop rides on the flying whales.
Think surfer dudes with buck teeth...

Very Cool! I don't remember what the Whales Above is. Was this a comic strip you were making?

Yeap, it is a long in the works, sequential style comic story idea
about a world where whales can fly.

Just think of the problems a grazing "pod" of flying whales can cause.
The story line centers around the trials of a crew which cleans up
after the whales.

Lalo--thanks, it can be a challenge, but I just try
to find the "extra" time to practice each day.
