X-charger installation pictures...
Hey guys,
Here's some installation pictures and uninstalled kit pictures.
Unfortunatly I dont have any pics of the lower intake upclose but maybe the other guys that were there do. I have tried to show a picture I took of it.
Just a few quality peices that I can reference are the completely cast new intake manifold, the intake to the back of the supercharger which we drilled and tapped for the water injection unit with no problems, the front drive plate and pullies along with the nose support for the supercharger Ford doesn't even supply this on their factory units. Not to mention all of the small fittings and parts and even though you have to cut 4 wires the butt connectors that are provided aren't your run of the mill connectors. Once the connector has been crimped you can heat it and the heat shrink at either end wil seal the connection and the SOLDER in the middle melts to further ensure the complete circuit makeup.
The instructions are very detailed with alot of pictures and even though we ran into some misinformation about the plug wire setup we fixed it by swapping the end two plugs. After further review of the instructions they were right and we were just confused, that is going to be addresses in the production instructions.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have....

That install is too sweet looking for words....
I am soooo glad I'm going the X-Charger route![Wub](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/wub.gif)
I'm really impressed with the attention to detail on the "little" things like the belt routing sticker. Nice.

As for the intercooler, there's just not enough room below the charger as it sits, if we were to include a charger then it would require the hood to be raised or some form of cowling. Of course when you do this you'll also add 25-35 rwhp and that will make things not as long lasting when it comes to engine life. Not to mention the added cost of the intercooler, pump, heat exchanger, tank and lines. It maybe a add on for future reference but for now I would recommend running it as is for daily driving and then when you goto the track run water injection, maybe even methonal if you have it tuned for it.
Finally, the new CAI is part of the 49 state kit, for now it doesn't have a heat sheild but it will to help keep underhood temps from going into the charger.
thanks, Doug

Looks great, a couple questions:
Does it use a oem GT MAF? If so can a oem GT airbox be retained?
How about the upper radiator hose? Is that preformed or a flex hose?
I thought water injection would prolong engine life, not reduce it, unless you went with crazy amounts of boost. I seem to recall the Jackson Racing supercharger for the 2.0 Focus advertised a temp reduction of nearly 100 degrees with water injection.
Is the new manifold higher than the oem? Will a strut bar still fit?
Anyway looks great, cant wait for pricing and availabilty.

It is a flexhose for the upper hose but it now has a covering to look more stock. With the covering you can't even see the flex.
The water injection will make for lower air temps and when used moderatly can help power, truthfully though Water injection should never be used as a way to make a vehicle suitable for daily driving, you'd need a water bottle the size of your gas tank. Also though, if you're gonna go through the process of installing it then why wouldn't try to get the max from it? In short, it would help power without a tune and be even more helpfully with a tune for it.
Thanks, Doug.

Wow, that is really a beautiful kit! All the components really look top notch. Doug, I saw in the other thread that you mentioned it took you about a day on the install, but that you were slowed down some because you were assisting on the instructions. What would you estimate it would take the average shadetree mechanic to install this kit? Thanks for the pics!

That is an impressive kit, quality looks exceptional. The option to go cowl hood and IC sounds most appealing.
