I have seen the graphs and read the posts from people who have used the X-2 to flash their their 05 auto's (it looks like it is definately worth the money if you have an auto).

Is it worth it to get one for the manual? Anyone run it on their car or have a dyno chart?

So nobody has tried the X-2 on a 5-speed manual?

I am sure someone must have done so by now.

Thanks.

My understanding is it will still make some pretty good gains on the manual... I believe there are still some torque limiters even on the manual... so maybe some improved throttle response??? also you would get the benefit of some spark advance,etc.....

I put the Steeda CAI on first - felt a HUGE response. 2 months down the road I Xcal'd my car.. While it wasn't as obvious at first - and was kinda dissapointed the first ride I took - I noticed a huge differance in response - and how fast my RPM's gain after a shift in my 5spd. I also made it so, my car idles at 1k RPM's - which actually helped my launch - I have a bad habit of dumping it a little bit.. or had a bad habit

I am still waiting for the Underdrive pulleys on rpmoutlet... the ones that add "12.3hp and 16.2 lb ft tor"..They said "Late September" :bang:

I got the SCT X-Cal 2 recently from the TMS group buy that happened last month for my 4.0 V6 manual. I have to say that it is a must have item. It gets rid of the annoying throttle delay that was really annoying me. I got mine from Doug at Bamachips. He included 87 Performance, 91 Performance and 91 Torque tunes. It was like night and day when I first installed it. The car is much MUCH more enjoyable to drive now. I notice a better punch from each shift even 5th gear!

Here is a quote from an e-mail Doug at Bamachips sent me:

Below is my normal reply to my V6 customers, please let me know if you need anymore information or have any questions about something.

On a 4.0 SOHC I focus in where the factory left off, the mid range torque curve. My 4.0 programs are aimed more at adding more torque in the 1500-3500 rpm range and with the performance program a bit more top end power as well. On all of my products I can raise or remove the rev and speed limiters and on automatics I can improve the shift quality as well. Also with the 05's I have the ability to remap the Drive-By-Wire throttle system to further help the throttle response and get rid of that annoying lag time.

Also on the 05's I can adjust for most CAI kits on the market today so please be sure and state if you have one of these kits or plan on purchasing one in the future. If you do buy one later on simply let me know and I can email you a new file for your new CAI.

I normally create three programs, an 87 and 91/93 performance and a 91/93 torque, depending on what grade of fuel is available in your area. I've just recently developed a mid grade or 89 Performance program so if you'd like to substitute it for any of the others then just let me know.

On a mail order tune I've made numbers in the 195 rwhp and 218 rwtq, improved from the stock 178rwhp and 203 rwtq. Now dyno tuned I've made 200rwhp and 223 rwtq but I was there and made some adjustments that I couldn't do without a a/f readout. These numbers are on 4.0 SOHC Ranger's and Explorer's, I'll have some Dyno numbers on the V6 Mustang's very soon.

Cool, thanks for the replies.

It used to be on the 94-98 that you would only gain something like 5hp if you had a manual so it wasn't really worth the money to get a chip unless you had Nitrous or a S/C.

Looks like the 05+ are a completely different machine!

I will have to get one after I decide which CAI to get.

Thanks for all the help,

David
