Wiring harness

I just bought interior door panels for my 05 that have the upgraded leather with the speaker and subwoofer in the door to replace the factory door panel with the 1 speaker since it has the 4 speaker system. Since mine only came with the 4 speaker system the current wiring harness in the door has no connection port for the subwoofer to plug into to receive from the head unit.

Does anyone know what wiring harness I need for plug the subwoofer into?

Ok, somone chime in here if I'm wrong, but I believe you'll need a Shaker 500 head unit, and then what you need is the wire from your head unit that goes over to two amps that would be mounted on the driver's side kick panel up high. From there you need the wire that goes from each amp to each of the door subwoofers. Basically two wires for each side, head unit to amp, then amp to speaker for each side.

If I can ask, where did you get your panels and how much did you pay for them? I have one that I need to replace because it got scratched up badly.

oh boy... well i'm going to give my 2cents... forget it.. reasons being.. ford was an donkey when making these cars. My car came with the Shaker 500 and I upgraded to the SHaker 1000... the only difference between the shkr 500 and shkr 1000 is the 4 amps & 2 subs and head unit.... The head units are special... the sound system was designed for the car so the head unit is pushing different watts in different areas to give it such a great sound..(which alot of folks thnk is questionable in itself)..

I had to sorter some wires and run additional wires into the front... i even had to run into the fuse box (which was not fun).. so you'll have to create your own wiring harness or find a used wiring harness + the shker 500 head unit... it has 3 plugs if i'm right your basic radio only has 1 or 2 if tht...
it is going to be a pain in the butt... but if your interested.. an are up for the job... i'll give you my 2cents & i have the shker 500 head unit... only probs. i had out of it was the paint starting to rub off the cd & fm part..

You'll also need to sit down and study everything... Overall time to hookup the rest to fininish my shkr 1000, 13 hours.. that includes the study time...

Ford Said it was impossible to upgrade... but i proved them wrong.. so i'm not going to tell you tht... i'm going to say.. it is a donkey! but it made me happy to prove Ford wrong...

Well, I have already got the shaker 500 head unit. I got the door panels on ebay, but as I can see currently nobody else has them up for sale. You just have to continue to check back. Do I need to get the amps as well? If so how many would I need to get if upgrading from the 4 speaker system?

Thanks for the info on the panels Russell. Yes, you'll need the amps as that is what gives the subs their punch...in the stock set up, there are two of them, both located above the left side driver's kick panel. I've seen those for sale occasionally on Ebay as well, *but* you might want to go to your local sound shop and see if they can come up with an aftermarket solution to power the subs while keeping the stock head unit. If so it should sound as good or better than the stock set up I'd think, and probably would be cheaper.
