Got an ET for any of your cars?
A mustang is a mustang! But since you bring up the GT...
No bolt on GT ever beat me when I had the 4.0 with the turbo...ever. And I got a TON of passes on it. And since I bought this car, I only lost to a handful of GT's, all of them were fully built up mid to low 10 second cars (3 of them were good friends of mine). I took down built up and FI GT's easily.
The 4.6 3V is a great motor. Responses well to bolt ons, not difficult to push into the low 13's and 12's. Reponds great to boost, and has some great top end. It's not the holy grail of mustang power plants, but its still a **** good motor.
By the way, got any ET's for your car, or are we just going to bench race in this thread?
Know what I love about the track, you don't get the same level of ego contests like you do on the internet. Don't get me wrong, there are aholes at the track talking smack, but its very rare and most of the time, everyone helps everyone else out regardless of power plant.
We are all on the same team here? Right? We all own mustangs?
@To the OP,
I loved modding my V6. If mid 11's were enough for me in the long run, a 4.0 would still be under my hood. It's a great sleeper car, block is strong and can handle boost well. I was enjoying a mid 11 second car last year that got 25mpg. Can't complain about that. And to me, both cars lead in their respective markets...ie price/performance ratio. Look at this this way...
-V6: Can be had for under 20k, less than 1k of bolt ons pushes it into the 14's on street tires
-V8: Can be had for mid 20's, less than 1k of bolt ons yeilds mid 13's to high 12's
Now, look at our competition and tell me who has the bang for the buck. Two great pony cars, that perform well when you really look at what they are.

My bad man, guess its still a touchy subject for me despite not having a 6er under the hood anymore. No, I didn't read the other post. Yea, you are right, my car is not typical. But I can speak for the turbo cars. Two weekends ago, I saw a PH turbo 4.0 with 10lbs of boost go 12.6's.

Not bad for a 2006 V6/4.0 Mustang that can run with a 2005 vett and a 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S, check the prices on each one of these cars and don't forget to add all the mods to the V6/4.0
I'll see you all out there, have fun and I have love for all nice cars,

The 4.0 is a great platform for modding.
Starting with the sleeper factor. Seems to hold up to around 500rwhp (same as the venerable 5.0 block), not to shabby at all for a 11 sec street car!
I was within a week of ordering a 4.0. In the end I ordered a GT, I love it. If I had ordered a 4.0 I would have been first in line with Rygen for the PH turbo and would have loved it.
My 4.6 has more potential (due to the hp capability of a FORGED bottom end) and has a killer exhaust tone.
I can't stand GT snobs as most of them probably couldn't get their cars in the 13s without bench racing.
I am equally nauseated by V6 snobs who also bench race other peoples cars for some type of vindication.
I love to hang out with Mustang enthusiasts who enjoy our ponies no matter what the powerplant. There has been alot of good questions and answers in this thread.
Remember its not whats under the hood but whats in the soul.
Hope to see all of you at the track.

Look at the video review of the Shelby Terlingua
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=473473
going with the blown V6 up front, gets the weight distribution at an even 50/50 making the car (with the right suspension) a total corner carver

I didn't bother reading past the first page on this thread. Theres just too much.
Well here's my $0.02. I've seen tons of S197 V6's with all sorts of cosmetic mods. Body kits. Wheels. Stripes. Tint. 90% of GT's: nothing. My reckoning: after insurance, car payments, and the price of gas, the average GT owners don't have enough extra cash to spend on aftermarket stuff, unless they're really serious about their Mustangs. Sadly in this area, DC is sorely lacking. You're hard pressed to find real motorheads who wouldn't buy something a little slicker than a Mustang if they can afford it. I see Corvette's, G35's and G37's everwhere. But looking past insurance, car payments, or gas...
My thought is certain V6 buyers like the Mustang in general more than they care about (and want to pay for) all out performance. They like the look of the car, they like the feel of it. V6 looks a hell of a lot nicer than any of the other sporty 2+2 coupes with a decent sized trunk in that price bracket (take the Tiburon for instance). Why get the GT when you know you're not going to drive the car as fast as you can a 1/4 mile at a time? Why get 300HP if traffic won't let you use it? Don't autoX or circuit race? why would you need the stiffer suspension? It makes sense to not spend money on performance you're not going to use because what you really want is a Mustang to drive day to day and have a little fun once in a while. And if you do care about handling? Buy the same aftermarket parts the GT owners would have put on as soon as they can afford it anyway. And if you do want some real get up and go? Then buy a **** GT.

I bought used. I wanted a convertible, I like the color (screaming yellow), and the interior reminds me of the '72 Cougar convertible (351C) I had in high school. Price was right. Insurance cheap. Weekend cruiser - when I'm not riding a Harley. Nice size trunk, but my truck hauls more.
Christ - it's just a fun car. More of a toy really. Can't beat the styling/heritage.
It's bone stock now, but I'll put a few bucks into it. Maybe some people are born with that gene. Just can't leave well enough alone (4cyl, V6 or V8 owners).
