V6 UDP... worth it???
V6 UDP... worth it???
I have a 2010 V6 (4.0) and have been reading in the Steeda catalog about their Underdrive pulley for the V6. As most companies quote for UDP's, they claim a 8-10 hp gain, but more importantly (to me) they claim an increase in fuel mileage. How many out there have a pulley installed, and have you seen an increase in MPG's?? Just curious.
I can't address this specifically, as I haven't installed one. (I've thought about it, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.)
Here's something to help you decide. I use www.fuelly.com to track my gas mileage. According to the site, I would save $1.54 per tank if I got one more MPG, and $2.94 per tank with an extra two MPG. (Not a huge savings, but he, that's like getting .75 to 1.5 gallons free every tank.) Divide the cost to buy and install the UDP by either number, and you can estimate how many fuel-ups it will take for this mod to be "worth it."
