Everyone keeps talking about how they love the sound of the Flows on their cars. Well, here's my question for it.. What series Flows are you using and what size pipes? Are you using single or double pipes? What kind of set up? Do you have an X or H pipe? And most importantly:

Does anyone have a sound clip?

Same here, I had a 99 3.8 Firebird with an 80 series Flowmaster. The car started with a gutteral "VROOM", had a nice rumbling idle, a low, throaty growl when cruising...people thought it was a V8, until I got on it, then it turned high and tinny. It was also fairly loud, which was fun for a while but got tiring on long highway trips.
I think I much prefer the sound of this Magnaflow.

Yeah sorry to drag up this old thread but thought Id atleast give you an update. I went to several dealers today and was priced between $350-400 having them provide mufflers, do all the work, etc. Not bad, but I was expecting more around 300. Most said they would spend 2-3 hours on on work just making sure they got the bends right since they havent played with this model yet -totally understandable and I never mind paying a little extra for a job well done.

What this includes: 2.25" piping, Y-pipe halfway back, 2 Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers+ Instal time/work

I should be going to get the work done next week when I have a little more cash on hand. Ill try to get recordings before/after.

One mechanic I talked to suggested not taking the cats off. He said on the newer models they helped control fuel injection, etc. and that taking them off could seriously screw up the engine. Any thoughts on this?

Alright, here we go. Had two flowmaster 40 series mufflers installed yesterday. Sounds awesome! We went ahead and ran true duals and there was a small loss of backpressure... Alot of popping going on under throttle, so we put in a small set of glasspacks turned around backwards to act as resonators. It got rid of most of the popping, and totally cleared it up under accel. Used a razor blade and a template of the right cut out and just made a cut out for the left side. You cant even tell theres a difference till you're right up on it.

I have a recording of how they sound.. Will put it up as soon as I find a host.

I found someone to host the file for me, and will have it up shortly for you. There is still a bit of popping as the car reaches the idle govenor, but I assure you its completely gone while the car's moving. Its also a little throatier than the camera would pick up.

Yeah.. haha. I dont think its that bad really. Especially for a v6. I have a clip of the car straight piped before we put the mufflers on... And from hearing the magnaflows, the straight pipes, and this, this is definitly the best Ive heard so far. Maybe a set of headers and cutting the cats out down the way will help some.
